I think that is when the inevitability sinks in and when the fighting back also begins - does this make any sense? At that moment in the bridge is when it is all hopeless and yet... that's when they fight the hardest

YES, THAT. Just...thanks for this comment. *hugs you tight*

Also, yeah, Nancy in the earlier movies and then "Heather" when she's playing herself in the 7th. Always with fucking fabulous hair. I have been jealous of that hair since I was 11.

You are so right about that opening shot -- it's brilliant, and even knowing beforehand what the source is, seeing the Elm St. sign gave me the shivers, because for folks around our age the movies are just that iconic.

What said, especially this:

At that moment in the bridge is when it is all hopeless and yet... that's when they fight the hardest.

That was absolutely gorgeous, and there's nothing about this I do not love. And God is it hard to watch, in the way that I still have watched it three times.

This is *so good*. This is absolutely a three-and-a-half minute horror movie--but better than some actual, full-length horror movies, because you handle the tension *perfectly* (drawn out through suggestion and implication, then broken into rampaging bloodbaths that just keep coming). And the whole climax and end, from the girls fighting back to the return of the tension with the sequence of Freddy's rebirth--and the final shot of his shadow--is just frigging AWESOME.

*So* well done!

I'm going to leave the analysis to other people and just say, from where my brain has crawled behind the couch to hide, that holy HELL this vid is 400 times scarier than I remember these movies being. And by that I mean WELL DONE. *is wide awake, maybe forever*

ETA: I had to come back and talk about metaphor once I'd thought about it. Beyond the obvious (knives, blood, slashing, the nightmare that doesn't end) there's...you think things are okay and then the bottom drops out AGAIN. Fighting and it always being-we won *this time.*

YAY! The challenge here really was to pull out what has always scared me so much about Freddy and these movies, so it is quite pleasing to send your brain under the couch. Um...that came out wrong?

we won *this time.*

nodnod. I like what seperis said, it isn't about winning, it is about *not losing*. And everyone, including Freddy, has their part to play in the game they are locked in.

HEE. Well, you did that quite well!

I like what seperis said, it isn't about winning, it is about *not losing*. And everyone, including Freddy, has their part to play in the game they are locked in.

I can see that! That makes tons of sense.

\o/ YAY!

Yesssssssss about the spectral presence. Freddy was always the scariest of the monsters to me because of the mythology, but in execution it was often so silly. Which, I enjoy on another level (who doesn't love camp?), but it is good to be reminded that he can KILL YOU IN YOUR SLEEP AND NEVER DIES. Heh.
