The Fête de la Musique in Paris? Highly overrated. We started off by listening to a really nice rock band, Entité, then had some dinner, and then by the time we got to Saint Paul? It was all dead. I don't know what was wrong with tonight, but this was so disappointing. Tonight is supposed to be about lots of different bands, different styles, crammed together in a neighbourhood (or a good many neighbourhoods in Paris, granted), and everyone is supposed to be happy and in a celebratory mood, and sometimes it's even hard to hear one band 'cause the others are playing too loud, etc. I really missed the Fanfare de Médecine de Reims tonight, and the Place d'Erlon with all those bands, or even Nancy's town centre. I should have got some info on where to catch some capoeira too, that was me being stupid, what with their being all focused on Brazil this year... Anyway. Very disappointing all over.
That being said,
I just wanted to link to this
review of Parting of the Ways here, because this girl makes some very good points I agree with, about how the whole Rose thing was just... well, she says it better than I could. That being said, I can also add that I love Jack, and the fact that he got to kiss both of them before going, that I was really afraid they'd kill him off, but that I'm still not sure how I feel about his coming back to life. I wonder how they will bring him back next season (they're bound to, you don't just throw that "two years of my life were stolen from me" plot thing in the air and then do nothing with it). The sure thing is that had he died, it would have been a great death. He'd grown.
I loved Christopher Eccleston to the end, but I now can't wait to see how David pulls it off. Christmas special, be there already! (Plus, Jackie'll be in it!)
I've worked some more on SCDM (aka Sarkney), other than that, and suddenly remembered I also had my Firefly/Highlander/Carnivale crossover to work on. Long projects are just far too demanding... but so much more rewarding when you do get them done.
