And that's the name of a cocktail, people, Jo isn't here yet. But hell, is that cocktail good or what. Drank that on Friday night, when we went out in Warrington. I was only persuaded because Daniel said he wanted me to come, looking semi-embarrassed at admitting it - it's his last weekend here. He even suggested I came with to a rugby match yesterday afternoon, but I was bound for Liverpool. It was sweet anyway. Now, Friday night in itself? I still hate going out in Warrington, because clearly guys can't take no for an answer and there's just such a difference in atmosphere from, well, Canal Street.
But ok, enough blah blah,
what about CoRo? Yes, I've finally seen Common Rotation live! And I just put Clear Channel on and I'm getting flashbacks to last night and wowowow. It was bloody brilliant! First off, Eric has so much charm when he's on stage (and with a beard). It's still Adam's babies I'd like to carry (and the Busch-Benson sandwich I'd like to be the meat of), but I have to admit that I see what girls see in Eric. As for Adam, he's such a showman, it's brilliant. And Jordan was such a lovely surprise, as far as his singing voice goes! I love the guy.
The music was brill. I only wish they'd played more of the Big Fear, or even True Hollywood Romance from the latest LP - they didn't do that one, did they? But trust me, details. Those guys just rock. There was a pop rock band to start with called Red Stone, from Liverpool, with unfortunately a bad balance so we didn't hear the voices well enough, but I might just look into the CD. And then there was Corn Mo, aka Johnny on the accordion... weird weird weird. Very special. Methinks I'll go download some stuff on his site, but not buy any.
Anyway, back to the guys - I don't know how to put it in words, Common Rotation live is an experience. You've got Eric sweating away (sweat can sexy) he's so much into it, and Adam who's just such a showman, and both of them so funny and into the music and those voices of theirs... And Jordan, as I said, was a really nice surprise, both on the trumpet and vocally. Go, Jordan, go! It's just... sometimes you get the shivers just listening to them. One of my favourites were Clear Channel, it sort of broke my heart. While Indie Rockin' got me bouncing enthusiastically along. "Why do you need words when you can sing 'ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh oooooh'?" And for the last one they came down the stage - do imagine my increased heartbeat when suddenly Adam comes forward and gets off the stage right next to me - to sing their last encore from the floor, in the middle of us all.
To stop ranting about the onstage, let's talk about the offstage now. The guys all came back afterwards, to sign stuff, take pictures and get a snog here or there talk to the fans. (The snogging thing was just Eric and, obviously, an English fangirl. That was - er - surprising.) I'd brought The Big Fear and Clear Channel to get signed and made a beeline for Jordan shortly after he arrived. He was lovely and said "bonjour" with his cute American accent when he learned I was French. Kudos to you, mate.
Then Eric and Adam arrived and I went for Eric first (he's so different with glasses and offstage!). He was rather cute about not having anything to sign with, but then a pen made its way to us and he did sign. And then he was like "what’s your name, it’s nice meeting you, unless I met you before in which case I’m sorry I don"t remember," really sweet guy. I could have just hugged him, and I did later. They"re just that cool. But on the whole, I have to say I"m really a much bigger fan of Adam, for pretty much everything. Looks, voice, attitude, everything.
Just one thing - I wonder whether they get used to the creepiness of some of their fans. This girl was talking to Eric and telling him she worshipped at his feet and loved his everything and all, but in a pretty creepy way - especially when she added "but not in a creepy way," except she was hardly able to look him in the eye. Maybe she was just shy or something but... I would have been creepified by her, personally. The price of glory, I suppose.
Anyway... Adam. Adam!! He was absolutely wonderful. Nice and there for his fans and funny and ready to have a chat with you... and he and I are in a symbiosis! He said so himself. (Well, ok, he and all of us fans, but he was talking to us-us when he said it.) And also, he gives the absolute best hugs. Really. I'll remember that hug forever. It was a real hug, full on, no second thoughts, and just damned enjoyable.
There's something so different to CoRo gigs, from Ghost gigs. First off, their actor-from-BtVS isn't overly full of himself (maybe partly because he isn't as much of a sex symbol, but who's dating Amber here? I'm all for the loving of Adam.). And while there are some creepy or annoying fangirls, they're still much less numerous than at a Ghost concert. So what if there was not much bouncing? It's just not music you bounce to as readily. But it was brilliant. And there's just such a niceness, a simplicity in those guys... You can just chat with them, which no, you can't do with James (now, I'm not talking of Charlie and the guys, y'all know how much I adore them). They're happy to be there for us. It is a symbiotic sort of thing indeed - they love playing for us and we love hearing them. That's all there is to it.
I can't wait to get that roll of film developed. And get some pictures from
”grimma”, too, 'cause my roll was over after a picture of Eric and us... and then we took pics of us with the other guys. Which makes me think - Adam has the sweetest, weirdest way of not smiling when posing for a picture, and as soon as the pic's taken he breaks into a smile. Anyway. Enough fangirling of my own. I just wanna thank you all who were there at the concert, it was brilliant! And kudos to the guys.
