Lost, lost, lost

Lost - because I am so off any sort of normal rhythm. I'm still on holiday rhythm and even though I'm tired as hell and have to get at 7 each morning, I still can't go to bed early. Or what passes as early for me. Also, I'm being so lazy food-wise, it's quite sad. (Yes, I even bought noodles. I think I've touched bottom.)

Lost - because I miss greenie_breizh terribly. It's amazing how quickly you get used to the good things. I miss having her in bed with me at night. I miss having her by my side during the day. I'm going through withdrawal, and it ain't pretty. So to fight it off I keep watching stuff and playing around with Photoshop.

And last but not least, Lost - as in, the TV show. I'm quite loving it. It's not always the most subtle thing ever - far from it - but it's got some very good things. Let's go about them semi-methodically.

Kate - oh how I love thee. I've always liked Evangeline Lilly, first off. I can so understand why more than one guy is crushing on her. Plus, she's a very interesting character. I wish the marshall hadn't died, I really like that actor too, and their interaction was quite interesting. Let me not already deviate and start talking of Sawyer. I wonder how much is due to the actress here, because she is typically the kind of character that could be a Sue far too easily, and whom I'd consequently not like, except I do. Probably because she keeps evading, too. And her kiss with Sawyer in that last episode? Hot hot hot. Which was excellent - I like that she's not in control of her own responses. That she wouldn't kiss him at first, and then we understand one of the reasons is because she knew a part of her would enjoy it. Also, at first I wanted to knock Jack out for not letting her tell him what she had done, but in truth I think it's a very good point to make. A fresh start. It doesn't matter, we've seen enough of her character to trust her.

The Chinese couple - it's absolutely wonderful. I love how they show us the exact circumstances surrounding all of those people taking that flight - even though I have to wonder, did nobody just get on the plane with no recent drama? I love both those actors, in any case - that girl is a very nice discovery. She's such a strong woman, too, and her interaction with Michael is quite touching. She's both so strong and, well, so lost.

Locke - Terry O'Quinn rocks. Big major time. The revelation about his "condition" was very well-put. I think they could have done a somewhat more nuanced and subtle portrayal of his life before, but oh well. What he has come to be now is a hell of an interesting character. His interaction with Charlie must be one of my favourite things to explore, too. This show is so making me want to write about it. To write the scenes they didn't show us. Or to write the thoughts and feelings we can only guess at.

Charlie - Doooooooom! After this fine bit of fangirling, let me develop. Could they have done a blunter job of turning the religious believer into a drug addict? Well, yes, probably, but it still wasn't the best thing ever. That confessional scene - it was just too much. They should have been more subtle. But seeing his descent into hell was enjoyable all the same, and Dom pulled off a very convincing performance. I was pleasantly surprised by him. They laid it a bit heavy with the "rebirth" metaphors, but again Dom sold it for me so let's just overlook that. It's also the first time I truly liked Jack, when they were sitting side by side by the fire, probably because all of a sudden I was overwhelmed by Charlie's own feeling of having found another elder brother to look after him. (And, sidenote: Liam's a cutie.) Also, very nice interaction with Claire - who'd have thought he of all people would get attached to a pregnant woman? Yet it makes total sense when you know his character well enough.

Jack - the big mighty hero. I'm not always as bored by him as I should be, which is a nice surprise. He has his moments, and Matthew Fox has that little something sometimes. It's a shame he doesn't have it more than just sometimes though. I very much liked that he had to kill the marshall, and also I think I liked him a hell of a lot more after his mother's line about what he had done - I wanna know what it is! More so than I want to know what Kate did.

Sawyer - who I always wanna call Bester, he reminds me of him. Anyway. I heart him. He's always on the verge of being a caricature, but always coming back to being a round character instead. His episode was wonderful, the way he wanted to be punished, his insistance to get a kiss - I so have to make a wallpaper of that kiss. He threw himself in it... and then she hit him. Perfect. The whole setting was perfect. I'm just really afraid that walking the line between round and flat character like that is gonna be too hard to pull off and they'll ruin him. (Also, love the fact he missed the marshall's heart.)

Sayid - I heart Sayid! That guy has something, and i cannot wait to see an episode focusing on him. Boone - same thing, I want to learn more about him, though I'm less fascinated with him. I really like his relationship with his sister though.

All right, no time to say anymore, but there's loads more to speak about, like the island and what I think of what they're doing with the semi-supernatural stuff. However, bell will ring in just a minute, so... That'll have to wait.

lost, my life is so interesting
