i do realize it is five in the morning..
i took 7.5 mg of adderall & it's working on full force on me..
i'm reading a textbook of the history of architecture by spiro kostof & everytime i read it, i am amazed by his numerous definition of architecture, art, & design.
i'm reading about the neo-classicism, neo-palladianism & picturesque landscape in England.. & in all honestly, England has some boring, symmetrical, castle-like, estates..
but it was because of England's drop of the gothic culture, & embrace of the parliament & the bill of rights & the freedom & rule of the people.. it's totally political, but architecture or art touches up Nature, & ultimately creates the picturesque landscape.. this picturesque landscape & architecture that ultimately expresses the freedom of the people in England..
then how this sets up implications of future "modern architecture" [fyi, i hate this term; for me it defines ALL architecture at PRESENT TIME].. anyways, he explains how "architecture is an expressive language, capable of recalling meaningful contexts through association... & the building traditions of all times & places merit attention & respect" this totally is applicable to gaudi's architecture & his expressionist/art noveau style of Casa Batllo & Casa Mila..
omg. i love this. to imagine that Spiro Kostof once taught this class, at UC Berkeley leaves me awed.
enough procrastination, i need to study nine weeks of lectures that i never went to & missed out on.. fuuck, i want to take this class again just to sit in on the lectures..
i've only filled one point five sketchbook pages of notes & am on week 1..
