Just a few more weeks...

I am so ready to get back to college life its not even funny. The fall will be a lot of fun this year because of the swaps, Lambda Sigma Phi parties, and crazy roommates like Jon O'rourke who like to play with nerf guns. Hopefully football season will rock like last year, except that we will actually beat auburn and lsu. Hopefully JP Wilson will be a good quarterback and that our offensive line won't suck. But honestly it wouldn't affect me that much if it were a repeat of last year. Alabama football will still be just as exciting and there will still be just as many insane, painted red, whiskey-smuggling-into-the-stadium fans out there for everyone's entertainment. I'm really glad I went to a big state college because the experience is like no other.

Also, this fall I'm going to be participating in some Operas too. Sandra Walker, who is an amazing voice teacher, has just become the head of the opera program at UA and she has really hit the ground running. We are doing the entire production of The Magic Flute by Mozart, or as it's called in German, Die Zauberflote with an umlaut over the 'o.' I'm only in the chorus in that one, but I will be very busy anyway in the fall. We are also doing Amahl and the Night visitors for xmas and in the spring we are having this thing called OperAlabama where we will do scenes from operas. I'm gonna be Mr. Koffner in the Consulate scene from The Consul, and I'll be playing Guglielmo in the Men's Trio Scene from Cosi fan Tutte. I'm pretty excited but I don't know what to expect because I've never done opera before.

Also class-wise I'm starting my clinical experiences in education, where I will start to learn how to teach music. In the class, we will each have a student at a middle school or high school to teach how to sing. I'm pretty pumped about that. I'm still taking private voice from Steven Cary, who is hilarious. He's a good teacher, and classical voice has really helped improve my voice overall. Plus I'm still taking private piano from Dr. Engebretson, who is a phenominal pianist and incredible teacher. This past year, I think I progressed in piano about the same amount that it took me 6 years to progress before I was in college, but I also practiced like every day, which I didn't do in high school. And University Singers will, again, be very strenuous, but very rewarding. We are going to Greece next summer for two weeks.

I'll also still be pretty involved in RUF(reformed university fellowship) and playing the keyboard in the praise band. Maybe playing some ultimate frisbee on fridays with them and some tennis with Brian, Rachel and Laura.

Man, I want to get back to college.
