Title: Testing The Strong Ones
Summary: Sometime vaguely post-S5, Team Free Will are driving around hunting together and generally being a team.  Then Sam gets a severe migraine and they have to stop.  Cas doesn't understand.  Dean is a good brother.  Oh, and it's Sam/Cas, because I will get out the oars and ROW this ship if I have to.

Ow wow, I loved this. I loved Cas' hopelessness and how he and Dean took care of Sam. And it sucks that they got stuck in Detroit.

This was a wonderful fic, I really enjoyed the flow of it, with all the little memories and tidbits thrown in and mixed up with the present. And migrane fics always hold a special place in my heart)))

And I just can't stop myself from quoting this back, because just ugh:

Long, strong arms pull him close, and Sam murmurs “angel” into his hair.

Sam thinks he’s still an angel.

Fingers threaded in sandy hair and flightless wings, they hold each other, swaying. Castiel talks about his brothers, tells stories of the times they spent together and the things they taught him, and Sam’s grip tightens and he whispers his own stories about Castiel’s brothers.

An angel would be able to heal the people he loved.The imagery here is just amazing, with how they're both broken, and Sam telling Cas about hell, and Cas' helplessness and loss, and them holding each other... ALL THE FEELS. Would love to read more in the same "vaguely post-S5" setting, if you're ever so inclined, so curious to see how Sam and

It's my big project. Post S5 and deals with the evolution of Sam and Cas's relationship, and other things. Some details are different from this fic (their house is in California instead of Pontiac), but the characterizations are the same.

This is lovely. I especially love fics where Cas really desperately wants to heal Sam, but just can't, and that's the worst thing in the world for him. I bet he never thought being this human could be so hard.

Yes, sam gets better and they leave. Detroit is really just a way for Cas to get in his head about vessels and his moral hangups with that.

This was an absolutely, incredibly wonderful little fic. Castiel, still trying to figure out what it means to be human all the while trying to accept these feelings of love he has for Sam.

I loved the random little snippets - behind the barn, ha! All of the First's for Castiel as well.
