Cervix irritation?

I had a touch of post-O spotting (unusual but not unheard of for me), and someone elsewhere said that she thinks it is due to me checking my cervix; specifically, that checking it caused irritation which made it bleed. If you scratch it, or really POKE it, I suppose it would bleed, but just from a normal "hey, how's it going up there/" feel, you should be okay. A cervix that bleeds that easily would also bleed like crazy after sex, and probably is not a healthy cervix, so if you do notice a pattern, I would go get checked out.

Thanks :) Nah I never bleed after sex or anything like that. The blood definitely seemed to be coming out the opening rather than from the cervix itself.

Unless you file your nails to a point, or you have 10" nails like the woman at the bus stop the other day (seriously--and they were REAL), you aren't going to do yourself an injury checking, so don't worry!

Lots of people are squicked out by FAM, I've noticed, though.

I recently read a comment over in menstrual_cups about how some women can have a highly vascularized cervix, meaning many blood vessels concentrated near the surface of the cervix, which I thought might apply in this case. I'm sure you've got it resolved by now, and I haven't researched this particular phenomenon, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.
