Ovulation and coming off HBC

Sep 11, 2007 07:38

This is my 1st cycle off of HBC, and my 1st cycle taking tempurature. Do most women ovulate after coming off HBC? How long do you think it takes? I'm on CD 14 and no spike in temp yet. Just curious what the "average" time til I ovulate.

Also, I normally always toss and turn in the middle of the night, but don't get out of bed. Will this effect my

excellent! another newbie!
i'm in the same boat as you only i am on CD 16. some friends have told me that they ovulated during their first month and it took a while longer for others. personally, i've always had irregular cycles, so i'm just waiting. *shrug*

i have a Q for you: are your temps erratic? mine seem to be all over the place, one day they're up the next really low. i'll have to post that as a gen. Q to the comm. but thought i'd ask.

good luck!

I've heard that sometimes it takes a year or more.

But I'm sure it can be sooner as well.

Mine took 8 months! But yes, it seems to range from a normal cycle to a very extended one.

I didn't ovulate til CD 46 my first cycle off the pill. They got progressively shorter, until they finally became regular.

I move around a lot when I sleep, too, and it hasn't affected my temps. I always see a clear thermal shift.

Good luck!

My last day on birth control was June 24 and I haven't had a period yet. I'm now on cycle day 77.

I actually got impatient on taking my temps every day because I had been tracking for a long time and saw no signs of ovulation. Now i'm just waiting for my period to start so I can start tracking again.

How your sleep affects your temps seems to vary from woman to woman. I'm a poor sleeper and my temps are fine with it, even if I've been lying awake for an hour before I temp, as long as a) I do actually get more than three hours' sleep overall; b) I temp at exactly the same time; c) if I get up to answer the door for the post or go to the loo, it's at least an hour before I take my temp. If your sleep is messing up your temps, you'll be able to see it because they'll be erratic.

I was on HBC recently, but it was only three months and it was the mini-pill rather than the combined pill. I continued charting through it (both charting and mini-pill are because I get demon PMS, I have a copper IUD for contraception). My temps went up and gradually became anovulatory while I was on the mini-pill, and went straight back to an ovulatory pattern once I stopped, although it's taken a few cycles for the overall temps to drop down to where they were before (the pattern was the same, the temps had just all shifted a bit higher).
