Well, my gynae's taking me off the progestogen (Cerazette/desogestrel) for the PMS as it doesn't seem to be doing me any good. She sounded worryingly like she's not going to try any other treatment on me, though she's going to consult my GP to weigh up the risks of putting me on cyclical Prozac.
Meanwhile, I'm considering trying agnus castus (vitex). I reckon that my PMS is coming from having a short luteal phase (2 cycles at 8 days, 1 cycle at 7 days), which, annoyingly, my gynae is showing no interest in. Agnus castus turns out to have a pretty good reputation for treating both PMS and luteal phase defect. I've put some links
here.
Does anyone here know more about how to lengthen short luteal phases, and what causes them in the first place? I'm having trouble finding sites discussing how it relates to PMS, since it's mostly discussed in the context of infertility. Also, are the treatments for short luteal phases likely to mess up my charting?
