About two weeks ago I was riding my lovely bicycle to work. I was cruising along Folsom when a car pulls into my bike lane and stops in front of me, forcing me into a skid. I correct out of it, but as a pass the car, I knock on his window, letting him know that he almost hit me, a knock and a glance, nothing more. This angers this man so much that he chases me for half a block, in his car, swerving out at me. Finally I stop and get off my bike. The man jumps out of his car and punches me in the face. My glasses fly off into the road. I ask if the mans car is an extension of his undersized member, and by touching his vehicle, perhaps he feels I molested him in some way. He informs me that I just just got my ass beat by a 58 year old man, and as a rebuttal I hoist my bicycle over my head, and thrust it at his head, pedals and chainring first. He cowers. I lower my bike, pick up my glasses and without touching the man, I ride off. He resumes his verbal assault, and I leave the weak and angry old man yelling into the din of traffic. I don't know about you, but don't most 60 year old men avoid punching 23 year old men that are obviously stronger and in better shape than them? Especially ones who have large chains and padlocks around their necks?
People say I should have hit him back, I should have taken my chain lock and laid into his vehicle, I should have jammed my gears into the bridge of his nose, (That was my first instinct) etc.
I should have simply filed an assault charge.
