I recently saw the video for the latest coldplay single, viva la vida. While the song is easily one of the best on the record and one of my favorite tracks by the band to date, the video misses the mark and comes off looking lazy.
What's worse about all this is that the video is directed by hype williams. For those of you that know anything about music videos, especially in hip hop, you'll know that williams is incredibly important to the genre, creating signature videos for artists like jay-z, missy elliott, and busta rhymes, among others.
This latest work, along with other recent attempts, prove that williams has gotten lazy and relies on his name more than his skill.
Fail for you, hype williams.
