Have you seen "Dangerous Living: Coming Out In The Developing World"
It's a great doc.
Actually, I've always wanted to do a based-on-a-true story film about the "Cairo 52." Or even, a 90 minute film, with 3 segments of 30 minutes each, about coming out in the developing world. The film has some great footage from the Phlillipines as well.
i have heard of it and seen bits and pieces of it.
it was going to play on logo, but my mother now decided to get dish network (we had direct tv before), which does not offer any gay channels and she's somehow placed a block on anything remotely gay.
ie - it won't let me watch an episode of graham norton, but i can watch as many episodes of south park as i want.
It was on Netflix instant viewing. Not sure if it still is. Definitely worth the viewing.
Some of the stories in the film are just heartbreaking. You think it's rough being gay in Texas? Shit, try being gay in Angola. They fucking execute you! In public!
