Abortion/Slavery ... one in the same

I have a 7 page term paper coming up and the topic I chose to write about is how Abortion and Slavery was ruled constitutional in the exact same manor. The more I researched this and the more I've studied the Constitution and the "right to privacy", I believe this even more now. Here is a summary of what my paper will be containing. Of course a ( Read more... )

ah, you bring up a good point... but you're missing one important fact. Any act has consequences and risks, she may try to prevent pregnancy, but simply committing the act puts her at risk of becoming pregnant. This is like getting into a car, and doing your best to prevent an accident. Just like operation of a vehicle constitues liability to any and all actions thereafter, so should sex. If you choose to have sex, you must be held responsible for any results. If there is a baby, it's your responsibility. Abortion simply is murder. If there is a life, and it is taken without consent from said party, then it's murder.

I'll admit that rape is a very very fine line to tread. It might be one of only two cases where I would agree with abortion. However, though I might agree with abortion in that case, it's still murder.

Back to your argument of enslaving her during that period... I would like to say, that my job forces me to go through work, pain, and plenty of potential health risks... is that enslavement? Alright... so you say a job is a choice... and if we prevent abortions, then she would have no choice. Fine, how about if I go to prison. I'm forced to work and go through pain, and yes... there are plenty of potential health risks. Is that enslavement? No, it's my belief that they are simply being held accountable for thier actions.

I'm well aware of the possible results of sex, and I do take responsibility for all of them. I can try to prevent it, but in the event of it happening, I will not shirk away from it.

Also, our society puts a greater value on money then it does life. For example. Lets say I have $100 in my checking account. I'm at the mall and I decide I want a new pair of shoes that cost $50 so I write a check for those shoes. Walk by Pac Sun and see some jeans I wanted for $50 ... write the check for the $50 and that's that. I spent my $100. Well on my way home I'm starving, I have no cash on me but I realize that I wrote checks for my shoes and jeans so I could withdraw that money before the checks go through .. so I withdraw that $100. Now, When those checks go through that bank is going to hold me responsible for that $100 and actually a bad check charge for each check. If I don't pay this money for a period of time they close my account. If I still don't pay it after that is done I could end up in some crap. I am help responsible for my actions. I knew that I wrote those checks, and I knew that if I took that $100 out that my checks could/would bounce. I did it anyway ... So I must face the consequence to my actions.

Now, with rape cases. I can understand that. Except a rape victim will abort the child because the child could be a reminder of that horrible action. So what makes more sense to me is she have the child, and give it up for adoption. That child had nothing to do with the bastard raping the woman. Also, giving the child up for adoption saves the childs life, provides the rape victim with the same escape as an abortion would, and also ... gives a family that may not be able to have children a chance to finally raise a child. Adoption is less dangerous because you have less health risks giving birth than the side effects of an abortion ... both physically and mentally. There has actually been studies on this.

I'll be on campus for a lot of the day tuesday ... my CR meeting is at 6:30 that evening and I have a class from 11 (AM) - 12:15. You will have to meet up with me somewhere and say hi!

You have to have ten sources? Sheesh, even I've never needed that many for a paper, and anthropology is so frickin' anal...
