Um, so I pretty much want all these pre-film element to occur in IB THE PREQUEL. Nay, not want - NEED.
This fic is seriously gorgeous. Your use of a non-linear narrative is so effective. & The way you write Hellstrom is ON POINT. I could imagine him saying every word, performing every action. & This:
Dieter Hellstrom was never a man with a mission. This alone marked him as odd among his fellow officers. Truth be told, he did not care much about the Jews one way or the other, alive or dead; what he knew was that people, people in general, they disgusted him, they bored him. The Jews were a class of people, and if the Fuhrer wanted him to hate them, wanted him to arrest them, kill them, he could do that. And I am so glad to hear you see him that way too! Like, he's a total racist (if only based on that King Kong business, and well, the whole Gestapo thing heh), but I feel like he's the kind of dude that's just full of hate for everyone, regardless of race and gender. BASICALLY HE'S DANIEL PLAINVIEW MINUS THE OIL AND THE MILKSHAKE. That "There Will Be Blood" icon you made could not be more apt.
And, ahem. I am obsessed with the imagery of him in an undershirt with a cigarette, all cranky and disheveled. I can't even.

LOL Hellstrom=Plainview. I could totally see him in his darkened office, being all crazy and shit and spouting lines similar to that of "YOU SLITHERED OUT OF YOUR MOTHER'S FILTH" and then possibly bludgeoning someone with a bowling pin because he is just that inhinged, in a quieter more predatory way at least. Now I feel like doing more TWBB/IB icons lmao.
And that scene with Fredrick in the projection room when he hurts her and he says he's glad she can feel something? I KEEP GOING BACK TO THAT. OMG I LOVED THAT PART because she looked pretty much unfazed by him scarily storming in all rapey & shizz and was like like "WTF YOU HURT ME" & IA about her being hardcore because lol WHO THINKS THAT RIGHT AWAY?
