UM. Yeah. I went there. I have been binge watching Touching Evil for the past couple days, and I think the marvelousness that is David Creegan and Susan Branca has officially broken my brain.
ERGO: fanmix time.
Yes. I really am that predictable.
(
(need you) like a hole in my head - a touching evil fanmix )
AND OKAY: Can we just talk about the Boston episode? When they're talking over those headsets and he tells her that breaking into houses makes him horny?? HOW DO YOU RESIST THAT MAN? It is just not possible! And then when he saves her and tackles the killer? The way he looks at her while she's just lying there?!?!? MY GOD.
And and and the episode where they're in the tiki bar and she's all sad and talking about how she feels like she's breaking and he begs her not to disappear? And then when she puts her hand over his mouth? HIS FACE. IT SLAYS ME.
And the entire last episode left me as a pile of mush, haha. BRAIN OVERLOAD.
Fic ideas! Hmmm, see that's where I'm stuck. I'm creepily enough doing serial killer research? I feel like the violence and everything of the cases they deal with is such an integral part of their relationship - so I want to include some sort of serial killer case. And sex. There will be sex. In his motel. Or in public. Or both. I could see these two getting involved sexually before they admit anything romantically, you know?
SO THERE IS THAT.
(STEAL AWAY!!!!!!)

I agree about the end in that it worked perfectly how she didn't kiss him - I very rarely sit and watch an episode of something and actually lean forward and shout, "KISS HIM, FOOL" so the tension there was perfectly played. Gosh darn them.
Yes to the serial killer research, because you're totally right about that. Their interactions come through the case their working on. And, also, the line Branca had in the finale scene sticks out to me: "I think...I feel that I don't tell you enough." I could see her maybe sort of trying to reach out to him in that way, but not really succeeding at it, because she's Branca and that's not really the kind of thing she gets into most of the time, it's Creegan who brings up personal stuff. I just feel like she's, at least just a tiny bit, socially inept. He's the one with no shame, but she holds herself back because she's worried about impressions and what she's supposed to be thinking, not feeling, how to be professional, etc. It'd be cool if they're on a case that's emotionally resonant to her but she's trying to remain passive and act like it isn't and Creegan's next to her reading her like an open book as he's wont to do. Or something. Hahaha.

The tension was played so, so well! And the entire episode, when Creegan kept insisting he still had things worth living more - maybe it's my crazy shippery heart, but I feel like he wasn't just speaking of his children, you know? Branca adds something to his life that is sorely missing and I LOVE THAT.
I'm glad you agree! Which makes writing this THAT much more difficult, haha. This research is creepy shit, man. Ted Bundy? The Zodiac Killer? Son of Sam? Charles Manson and the crew? I'm thinking of doing some kind of terror-inducing serial killer, who sort of like the Joker in The Dark Knight, makes it public each day that one or two people will be killed, and they're all high-profile individuals. Or....I might run with fanfic cliche and have a serial killer who kidnaps couples, haha. TALK ABOUT BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER.
And, also, the line Branca had in the finale scene sticks out to me: "I think...I feel that I don't tell you enough."
I love, love that line! And then doesn't he say something like, "I still get it."? It's marvelous! But I agree - I think she has had a lot of hurt in her life - clearly, with her fiance - and I think that just heightens her already reserved nature, you know? But Creegan, he has no shame and he's curious like a child or something. And I think the stress of the case could definitely lead Branca to cracking a little, or Creegan at least seeing through her faux calmness.
I'm also thinking the story won't take place in Cali, but in like Kansas or Nebraska or something. There is something wonderfully creepy and empty about the Plains states. Especially where crime is concerned, heh.

Oooh, I like the idea of it being somewhere flat and almost desolate. It can be kind of like in the pilot where they had to travel to Colorado to the creepy scientists first home or something. You can tie the serial killer's history someplace else and, of course, there will be another place scene between these two? I love the dynamic of when Branca's in a vulnerable state like that and Creegan's perfectly calm and collected. And add to that maybe some unease Branca has over the case they're on, and you've got yourself a delish scene!

Exactly! I love the idea of a motel off the highway and a bunch of truckers passing through and not much there but farms and old houses - definitely where the killer is from, haha. And of course! Another airplane scene for sure! I love that too - she clearly hates flying and he knows it and he's so composed about it all. When she grabbed his knee on the way to Boston and when he looked at her hand?!?! Gah!
Trying to write a serial killer plot is strangely difficult. I'm heavily considering ending it with them not catching the guy - sort of like the Zodiac killer, where they have their hunches but no evidence. No happily ever after there, you know?

Gah. The little moments between them. What do you think will be the catalyst for sexy sexy time? I'd think it'd have to be a touch, a look or something he says - something that finally gets to her? Because I'm thinking she's going to have to be the one to initiate it. Whenever I try to think of Creegan being the one to purposely initiate anything between them, I see Branca pulling away. Or am I just crazy?
I like that idea! It plays into the fact that they don't always catch the bad guy. And if Branca's going to be attached to the case in whatever way, the bad guy not getting caught can lead to a scene between her and Corrigan, where they have their little dance, she's trying to act like it doesn't bother her as much as it does and he, plain and simple, sees right through her. Yay for emotional vulnerability?

Yes! The little moments! And I can't decide what the catalyst would be - I'm almost thinking an argument? They're both damaged and messy people, and I feel like a frustrating case, with no real leads, in the middle of Nebraska or whatever is going to lead to tensions running high. And a part of me wants her to be the one to initiate it, orrrrrr he does. Because, the dude has a temper, the guy has some violence to him and I can see him getting so angry he just grabs her, if only out of frustration. And she would protest - of course because it's Susan - and maybe that's how their first kiss goes? Sort of ugly and all teeth and bitterness. But the first time they sleep together, I think she'll be the one to initiate it. I CAN'T DECIDE.
Exactly! I feel like more often than not, they nabbed the killer. This time? No such luck. And yay indeed for emotional vulnerability!

But I agree - that woman has so many issues when it comes to men, and the men she sleeps with, she's the one that's going to have to take that step forward. I can't decide how I want that to work. I am thinking booze and a particular amount of self doubt and his motel room/home, haha. And loneliness, of course.
ALSO: I have decided this song is the killer's calling card, haha.

I think his, "I still get it" line to her in the final scene will, consciously or subconsciously, effect in some way how she approaches him. And especially if there's been drinking and she's vulnerable and he's, you know, Creegan, haha, I'm all excited about what would be going through her mind.
OH, THAT SONG! Perfect!

YES. That sort thing resonates - he gets her, and she knows that, which makes it that much easier to approach him. Or even make approaching him unnecessary. He can read her, and I love that.
I AM HAVING WAYYYY TOO MUCH FUN WITH THIS!
