Life update! I'm back from Lynchburg, have been for a few days now. Good times. Seen my friends, also good times! Have a new and cute coat. Down side, it's all black and my cats like to get everywhere.
Current house business, we had this big tree in our backyard that was covered in ivy and had these nasty purple berries that the birds would eat and then paints the cars with. Mom likes white cars, so she does not like this tree. We also have a construction site next door as they're extending the parking lot of the theatre behind my house. Mom asked the guys if they'd push over the tree and they obliged. The tree is in our neighbor's yard, but because its ours Dad was going to chainsaw it away. All would have been fine.
However. Our neighbor who lives with his grandmother apparently told his mother (who I found is actually not much further off from my mom's age) that the construction workers didn't have our permission to take down the tree. Then he says he told her not to get involved. So his mom went to the construction workers and pitched a fit. The workers then said that mom "begged" them to take it down (she does not like this terminology!). The construction workers got in trouble and had to clear out the tree themselves. My mom feels guilty and wants to pay the guys for their trouble. I'm not really pro-this, but I'm not going to stop her and I've been trying to play devil's advocate for which ever opposite direction she's leaning so she thinks about it. I feel bad that she feels guilty and I see why she wants to pay them, but geez.
AND my neighbor had actually told Mom beforehand that she should tell the guy in charge at the site that she didn't give them permission to take down the tree so they'd have to clean it up. Like they had to after his mom's fit. Hmm.
In less crazy news (I guess), I finally got myself up to date with NANA. I love this series and I think it is coming toward a close. I hope so at least. The manga-ka (artist/writer/whatever you want to call her) is ill and the manga is on hiatus until further notice last time I heard. It's sad and frustrating, but I hope she has a speedy recovery. I enjoy all of her works. I cried while I was reading, I know I'm a baby but it involved a very well loved ship that seriously can't happen. I'm officially saying here and now that there will be a NANA panel at Anime Mid-Atlantic... If it gets accepted which I don't know why it wouldn't be.
