i want you by my side in the midst of our great victory.

where am i updating from? my roof? where it is currently in the mid-70s? hells yeah spring! bring it on! i ate ice cream and biked around in a twenty mph headwind like a crazy person. my gear ratio is ginormous and my thighs actually hurt! and i hate the irs!

i am knitting adorable little condom cases out of really pretty yarn, with adorable little flower buttons. everything about this project is a-plus! i love to knit! i love safe sex paraphernalia! quality is job #1!!!

so DOCTOR WHO is back. maybe it's because i'm not inundated with catherine tate sketches whether i want to be or not, but i don't find her obnoxious at all. i actually really love donna! i think she's awesome. last week's episode? i'll be honest. not great. okay, but i would have expected better from a series premiere. also, i think the nanny was in the sarah jane adventures or something. that whole episode was kind of like sja, to be honest. only without elisabeth sladen which is automatic fail. this week's? FULL OF WIN AND AWESOME.

!)first off, did i say how much i fucking love donna? i know it's only two episodes in and there's plenty of time for her to suck (uh, remember how great martha was until she went all "zomg doctor ilu!!!" and he was all "gtfo!" and she was all ":(" and IT JUST WENT ON LIKE THAT? that's okay though, she got awesome and clever again by the end of the series) but i'm really keeping my fingers crossed on this one. also? i hope she doesn't die. but she probably will. oh well. but anyway, the point kind of was, her skepticism about being in ancient rome was hilarious. her "is this epcot?" line killed me. and i think it was very clever of her to ask, if the tardis was translating latin for her, what would happen if she walked up to someone and spoke in latin.

@)which brings me to the second point of hilarity. IT TRANSLATES TO WELSH. i have no idea what's so funny about welsh, but it's REALLY FUNNY for some reason.

#)that prophet girl looked really familiar. what has she been in? or does she just look like someone else maybe? i have no idea, but it's driving me crazy.

$)i really liked the eyes on the backs of their hands. i don't know. that was just kind of cool looking.

%)monster of the week was CREEPY AS HELL. seriously, they were breathing in vapor from the hot springs that had rock monsters in it? who gave them psychic powers?? and turned them into stone???

^)the prophecy-off was AWESOME. i was kind of hoping lucius was a giant fraud, but i guess he was breathing in the rock monsters too, so he was actually psychic. just an asshole. meh. speaking of assholes, that family (by which i mean the parents) were sort of assholes. meh. i really liked when the son saved all their asses and NO ONE CARED and the doctor was all "hey dudes, yr son was brill, aren't you going to thank him for not letting you burn to death?" like, i get that he's a slacker teenager and all, but he was a pretty cool kid and no one really noticed until it was nearly too late.

&)donna kind of broke my heart in this one. how she didn't understand that the doctor doesn't just go around merrily saving people from disaster, and that some disasters have to happen. i think she actually had a pretty hard first trip compared to the doctor's other companions (mind, i still haven't caught up on all 40 years, so just thinking of the ones i know offhand) but i mean rose's first trip was to the future where she had no idea what was going on and she was just kind of following along. martha's (not counting to the moon, because that wasn't actually the doctor) was to the past, but ALIENS WERE GOING TO DESTROY THE WORLD AND SHE GOT TO HELP SAVE IT. and then a lot of the other companions were aliens or from the future anyway, so they kind of Got It (and even some of the ones who were "current" weren't the only ones along, so they at least had someone to angst with). poor donna! she went the whole episode thinking maybe they could just, you know, help. and then they really really couldn't. and she went from "oh hay let's save everyone!" to "for the love of christ, can we just save ONE DAMN PERSON?" (sort of the inverse of "everybody lives!") and that KILLED ME DED. for reals.

*)another thing that killed me ded: when the doctor realized that he was the one who made the volcano erupt and he killed everyone and it was all his fault, and then donna put her hand next to his on the lever before he pulled it. oh man, i nearly cried! *dork* and that is why i like her, and why i think she'll make a great companion. because she is clever and she is funny, and she's really excited about, you know, space and time and junk, and when it comes down to it, she can make the tough decisions.

()here are some things i didn't like: i don't like how the doctor is continuously being set up as the messiah lately. he's not the freakin' messiah, that's the whole point. he's actually kind of just a dirty old man. WHO BRINGS DEATH WHEREVER HE GOES. but, you know, whatever. another thing i am dreading? ROSE EFFING TYLER. the end of last week's episode made me wtf like there was no tomorrow. then there was a whole week of tomorrows, and then the prophecy girl said rose was back. i mean, kind of. didn't she? i thought i heard her say "she is returned" but the doctor never said anything about it, so maybe i have the crazy. but anyway, wtf again!! jesus dudes, i totally cried during "doomsday" just like everyone else. i can't watch that one! i've only seen it once because it's so sad forever! i mean seriously, i liked rose. i thought she was fantastic. and the way the got rid of her? also fantastic. i thought it was super clever and sort of wrapped up really well the two series(es?) she was in where she was constantly just a bit too slow and kept getting left behind but always managed to survive anyway. it worked. so why bring her back? there's no point. unless there is a point, but i kind of don't want there to be, because it'll most likely be apocalyptic and she'll probably wind up dead. and i don't want her dead! just, you know, on a parallel earth forever. fine.

and that's what i think of doctor who so far.
i don't even want to talk about torchwood. i'm still angry. all i will say is they made ianto and gwen super awesome, and that was a good move. beyond that, let's just pretend it never happened. really. especially the part where they retconned (haha) "aliens of london". I CAN'T HEAR YOU! TOSH IS A REAL DOCTOR! ETCETERA!

ETA: PHYSICS.MUXTAPE.COM OH MY GAWD HOLY SHIT!!

doctor what? doctor who?, summer not winter, adventures in knitting!
