reasons why andersonville > pilsen:
lesbians
book-fucking-stores. there were no bookstores in my old neighborhood. at least that i could find. there was one shop called tianguis which advertised "books. tea. culture." which i was all for, but it never seemed to be open. we did have a pretty good library, though. it had a ton of science books, and it had two copies of everything; one in english, one in spanish. good times. what is my point? simply this. if i run down the block to the friendly lesbo bookstore and ask them if they can order a book the publisher is apparently "out of stock", this is the result
let there be multiple orga(ni)sms now.
thus, andersonville wins.
christ's fucking underpants, stephen fry is wonderful.
"underpants" is a word i like a lot. i don't know why. i'm too lazy and too filled with a profound and precarious sense of well-being to spoil it by scrolling back three years' (good LORD!) worth of lj posts to find the one where, packing for my visit to the left coast (in all honesty, i was not visiting the left coast, but rather Someone on it), i gleefully debated labeling one of my bags "OH EM GEE, UNDERPANTSESSSSSSSS!" because i had some half-baked notion that if i presented myself in potentially embarrassing terms, airport security would be less likely to attempt to embarrass me by dumping out the contents of my luggage for all assembled. and also? what a great fucking word.
i have been startlingly and obscenely cheerful lately. i have also been doing quite a lot of office work which under other circumstances might be dull, but the current circumstances are as follows: eightteen mile-an-hour wind and negative four degrees. and also driving snow. not today, though. today was nice. sunny. nearly reached thirty. it's like an early spring holiday.
i had a consultation for a three week old maltese fluffball today. his dad was nice as hell and said he ("he", the puppy) vaguely resembled an ewok which was both hilariously nerdy and true.
i bike to work air-drumming to propagandhi. and life is good. for now.
