dumpstered a pirate trunk today after work. it is fabulous except it is covered in highschool punk rock stickers, a.k.a. a bunch of really terrible bands jocks and nerds alike think they're really tough if they listen to, but actually they're probably going to date rape you even though they're "outside" "The System". there was a black light in it, and apparently it belonged to an art student who left his b+ oil pastel sketches in it. i like some of them. one reminds me of jorge luis borges, so i am hanging it in my room because ficciones is still probably one of the best books ever written or something.
the ice cream truck is apparently parked outside my window and it is playing when the saints go marching in, frère jacques, and assorted christmas carols. also, it's a small world after all. i never lived in a neighborhood before, so i never heard the ice cream truck except at the zoo when it played do your ears hang low? do they wobble to and fro? can you tie them in a knot? can you tie them in a bow? can you throw them over your shoulder like a continental soldier? do your ears hang low??? until i thought my brain might leak out the aforementioned ears.
plus, it is really hot in my room. i can't really sleep and i feel the need to wash my face about five times a day. in fact, i'm going to go take a shower now! since i couldn't sleep last night, i just stayed up really late watching little miss sunshine. dude, forget everything i said recently about hating all media ever and not appreciating art or like whatever, i definitely enjoy that movie. i think it's really well made and i like it, no matter what my friends say. i am finding that we rarely agree on movies. except clueless. no one could argue with that. i may have said it an awful lot lately, but i definitely miss the mid-90s. i guess i am just a dick like that.
what would you say if i said i was starting a band whose main influence was tara jane o'neil? because maybe this is what my roommate and i are doing tomorrow.
