Am I the only one who makes up back-stories for their Rock Band... band?
IW ALLSTARS
So here's the IW Allstars, consisting of Zoe (vox), Francoise (drums), Leeroy (guitar), and Rex (bass). They're all pulled from members of Itchy's Winnebego, my main band. Keep in mind, this back story wouldn't really make much sense in real life, but it's based off of how I actually play the characters, so it fits. Itchy's Winnebego is supposed to be sort of a "philanthropic" band - they have their core members, but they regularly allow members of other bands to join them on stage and get their time to shine and showcase their ability. The original Itchy's Winnebego lineup is Zoe, Francoise, Leeroy, and Lily (bass). Rex is one of the subs, and now occupies a constant position in this IW side-project.
[[ This part of the back story comes from the fact that when making new characters, I always just play them in Itchy's Winnebego to get them the cash they need to get the clothes, instruments, etc. I want for them. Rex became a permanent member because I like her more than Lily. ]]
Zoe: The Leader
Zoe actually has the least back story out of any of them, because she's the character that I primarily play, so I figure saying much about her is indirectly saying stuff about me. I can't say that she's an amazing singer, because that would be saying that I'm an amazing singer. So, basically, she's just the core of the band - the band leader, the most public figure of the band, and the one who stays on-board most often. She hand-picks the members that will be joining the band (especially the ones that will take her place), and decides what gigs the band plays. In a relationship with Leeroy. Claims to love hardcore punk, but is more pop-punk at heart.
Favorite Song: The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright
Leeroy: The Godlike
Leeroy is the "nice guy" of the band. He keeps everyone happy through his overall upbeat nature and mellow demeanor. Don't mistake his lax attitude for lacking skills, though; Leeroy is a god of guitar, both in technical skill and breadth of musical styles. He and his trademark Gretch Penguin can take on any song someone has the gall to heckle him with, and not skip a beat. He's more than willing to give others the shot to prove their chops, though.
Favorite song: Grateful Dead - "Franklin's Tower."
Francoise: The Unerring
The single member of the band with the most musical experience, Francoise never makes a mistake. The master of all things rhythm, he is often the crotchety "old hand" of the band, unimpressed with the youngsters that Zoe picks to join the sub spots. Generally in a dour mood, only playing live invigorates him.
Favorite Song: Rolling Stones - "Gimme Shelter"
[[ Leeroy and Francoise get these traits because of their appearance, and because I almost never actually play them. Because I always play Zoe, these two just remain computer-controlled - essentially just there for show. But that also means that regardless of what song I pick, they will play it perfectly. ]]
Rex: The Lonely Multi-instrumentalist
As opposed to Zoe, Rex has the most in-depth back story. Rex has been in dozens of bands, and has either left or been kicked out of all of them. She originally picked up playing Bass in the hopes that it would make her "cool." Having been a social outcast all of her life, she was hoping that she could become more popular by being in a band. After impressing several bands with her instrumental abilities (she had lots of time to practice, since she wasn't in any groups or clubs), she joined one, and played some small-town bars. Inevitably, in every band that she became a part of, she would fall for one of the male members of the band, who would, much to her dismay, never reciprocate her feelings. This led to many awkward moments, usually ending either in her being kicked out of the band, or her leaving.
Over the years, she slowly started experimenting with other instruments and with singing, and has become quite proficient in guitar, bass, and drums. Also through her time in her many bands, she picked up her current "goth" aesthetic, and despite leaving the band in which it was necessary, the look resonated with her, and she has kept it since.
When Zoe offered her a spot in Itchy's Winnebego, she gladly took it. After playing with them for several shows, she felt content with where she was. Leeroy and Zoe were already in a relationship, Francoise was crotchety and significantly older than her. Instead of constantly looking for attention from the opposite gender, IW allowed her to feel more of a "family" atmosphere from a band. After being with IW for some time, she's learned to be content with being by herself. When Zoe offered her a permanent position in an IW side-project, she gladly accepted.
Favorite Song: That Handsome Devil - "Rob the Prez-o-Dent"
[[ Most of this just comes from the fact that she's been a major part in several of my bands, has played all 4 instruments, and tends to participate in multi-person animations with her other band mates quite often. ]]
