Windows Media Center? Good way to save memory on your HDD as well. I was wondering about the HD Remix tracks and I'm surprised I didn't try to go out and find them--Once I get them, I'll roll them up with the good SF4 tracks and maybe some Tekken/Guilty Gear oldies and make a power mix~oh what the hell, I'll throw some Symphony of the Night in there too.

Your Blanka nightmare simulation is a good example. I always thought his blocked roll attack gave a very generous bounce off distance..although I never knew how rapidly they could be spammed. And let me guess...his roll attack is his armor breaker move too, so that means no tanking through it. His vertical rolls also break the game sometimes. I once saw his ultra go up and come down on a Ken at *such* an angle that Ken went from blocking properly to somehow turning around and leaving himself completely open to the ball that was now perfectly on top of his hit box.

There oughta be a paper/rock/scissors formula of move and countermove for every given situation, but when fireballs fly a little too fast or recovery is a little too instant (and your character's isn't) then suddenly you *don't* have the perfect countering move for 3 high tigershots in a row.

There was a Sagat player at a get together of ours and between me, Brian, and someone else, it took over 27 matches (losses) for one of us (Brian) to eventually de-throne him. Endless tigershots and then an uppercut when we jumped, which would be replaced by an ultra when the meter got high enough, which would end the match if we had less than half health. Eventually we'd learn not to jump at him, but that didn't stop him from chucking shots. In effect, it's like playing as Zangief against Akuma air fireball shinanegans...it doesn't matter that you have fireballs of your own if you can't chuck them fast enough.

There's a methodology somewhere to beating a turtling Sagat that rarely comes at you but only reacts (CPU style) to your moves. And yeah, it's not fun. I feel only dread! Started making me wonder if I should learn Sagat just enough to knock out a reigning Sagat player in our local matches...but then again, maybe Blanka's a bigger pain.

Here's hoping we get tweaks-a-plenty in Champion Edition. Although the latest patch for HDRemix didn't change anything gameplay wise---guess Sirlin's confident it's been remixed enough

I'm pretty sure Sirlin got essentially "fired" once HD Remix was done. I could be getting that wrong, but from what I understand, that's what people suspect is part of why he's knocking on SF4.

I'm not sure that it's good to start tweaking balance just yet. The game's barely been out (on consoles), and if they changed stuff every time someone cried "overpowered," then it'd end up even worse. I don't know that I'd say that Sagat or Blanka is overpowered (tiers say that Sagat is top, but again, the tiers in SF4 are supposed to be more compact than in the past), just again... maybe not fun to play against.

Also, Killian's argument for all the link combos in SF4 seems to be "there are link combos in every fighting game. You don't need them to be competitive." I would argue with both of those points. SF3 (hate to keep coming back to that, but that's the fighter I know most) had link combos, yes, but they were just a normal linked to super. They are not like SF4's normal linked to normal linked to special linked to normal linked to special to ultra (which is literally something Sakura can do).

Similarly, any opponent that CAN do those links will have a big advantage over someone who doesn't. When you're talking about the highest-level players, there's no way that someone who can only do non-link combos is going to sweep a tournament. And even if you didn't really need them... then why are they there?

actually in that Sagat video, I did spot a tight link combo that essentially won the match for Ryu at the end: cr.Strong to cr.Fierce canceled to Dragonpunch Focus Cancel dash into Ultra. I admit it now, learning tight link is very desirable. And I guess because it's so prohibitive and super hard to do, it only be something you see come from very very dedicated players. Like I think Sirlin was mentioning a Sakura ultra fiasco that all comes from a low short kick.
