I wanted to avoid the classic sappy wedding tropes, while still making it sort of lovey-dovey - a knee-jerk response to marathoning angsty fics. Which I love, don't get me wrong, but it's heartbreaking too.

Of course, now that I think about it, I have a hard time finding good angsty fics (because I do tend to prefer a happy ending), but the first two stand out as they were definitely on my mind when I was writing this.

Fragments of a Life Less Lived/All You've Ever Known by heartsways of course, they were going through a really rough time at the time.

Make Him Happy, Dear" - by Eshu, this one killed me. As I was reading it, it became part of my headcanon whether I'd wanted it or not, and then you multiply it by a dozen years, and it informs so much about some of Regina's behaviours, and breaks my goddamn heart. (And again with the needing a counter-weight.)

Off the top of my head I like a lot of what everyone else likes, that isn't through-and-through angsty, but the characters still have to fight for their happy endings: Adventurepants, damelola, seriousfic's Not a Fairy Tale Romance, Natalah's There's a Light on the Horizon and Carried in a Swarm of Bees. I know there's more, but I have waaaaay too many fic bookmarks. *sigh*
