11 TV Characters I Love More Than Anything - Really, I just wanted an excuse for another meme. And every once in a while I list my top 10 hotties, but I did that not too long ago, and then AfterElton had a thing about 'TV characters you wanna marry', so I thought about that, but I realized that really, most of my favourite TV characters I don't necessarily wanna marry, so 'love more than anything' in this case mostly refers to how much affection I feel for them, how much watching them be awesome makes me all warm and fuzzy, how sad it makes me when they're miserable (tho of course there's a huge overlap with hotties and favourite shows etc). It's crazy how much I love these characters. Pictures under the cut!
11 - Helen Magnus - Sanctuary
Helen Magnus is 160 years old. She's known all kinds of heartache and saved the world countless times. In a cage match against Xena, Xena would win, and then Helen would ask about her techniques with her dignity intact afterward. I would never wanna marry her, but I love her more than anything because she's a little bit crazy and a lot arrogant, she acts judge, jury, and executioner for matters concerning the entire world without second thought like she's entitled to it because she's so awesome. (And can you imagine how much I must love the REST of these ladies if Helen Frickin' Magnus comes in last???)
10 - Monica Reyes - The X-Files
Monica Reyes is a kick-ass agent and she's sensitive to the energies around her and soft-spoken and a little bit socially awkward and has a mysterious past (although partly that was this fic I read, but that fic is part of who Reyes is in my head). She loves Scully and Scully loves her and (What? We're in *my* head now.) and watching that scene where she tells Scully that she looks "amazingly beautiful" just melts my brain into mush.
9 - Aeryn Sun - Farscape
Aeryn Sun is fearless but still scared of a lot of things. She's tossed out of the only world she's ever known but makes the best of it. She stands by her decisions if she believes in them, she's doesn't shy away from admitting when she's wrong (well, she does, but she does her best?) and I just have a CRAZY amount of respect for her. She's solid in a way that few characters ever are.
8 - Barbara Gordon - Birds of Prey
Barbara Gordon is a frickin' genius. She's had a lot of crap happen to her in her life but she continues to fight for the greater good and teaches *inner city high school English* on the side. She's nerdy and kick-ass and awkward and lovable and I do love her. More than anything.
7 - Vala Mal Doran - Stargate SG-1
Vala has (like so many others on this list) had SO MUCH CRAP happen to her, and somehow deals with that by being childish and curious and excited about new things, and she has more façades than I have screen caps of her. She's been running for so long it's almost second nature to her, but she decided to stop and fight the good fight, and is slowly opening up and I just want her to (perhaps more than any other character on this list) find somewhere where she might be a little bit at peace with the universe.
6 - Myka Bering - Warehouse 13
Myka just takes my breath away with how badly I want her to be happy (and at the same time I want her to be completely miserable so I can see her work her way back to being happy - and how messed up is that? :P ). She kicks ass and reads books and knows all these languages and she's nerdy and socially awkward and insecure (probably the only one on this list I would refer to as insecure), she knows that she doesn't know what the right thing to do is (all the others pretty much always know, but then sometimes they're wrong), but she believes doing something is better than doing nothing, and by the goddess, I love her more than anything.
5 - Sam Carter - Stargate SG-1
Sam Carter is... levelheaded, even-tempered. If she's passionate about things you can't tell. She kills people with the same ease that she fixes a computer (and she can fix any computer better than you). She carries her joys and her pains very very deep inside. And yet there's just something about her. When someone threatens the people she loves you know she'll save them (unless the greater good is at stake, in which case she might choose the greater good, but she'll be upset about it). She won't rant and rage (much) but she'll kick whoever's ass needs kicking and she'll break whatever rules needs breaking. She's awesome, and I love her more than anything.
4 - Dana Scully - The X-Files
Dana Scully is amazing. She's sacrificed pretty much everything over the years but she continues to fight. She's a doctor and a warrior and a philosopher (and she's immortal!). She acts when she needs to and thinks about stuff afterward and words cannot describe how much I love her.
3 - Laura Holt - Remington Steele
Laura Holt is awesome. She's smart and savvy and kick-ass and irrational and jealous and hot-tempered and professional and annoying and human and flawed in the most delicious mix. She helps people who need helping but mostly she just likes solving mysteries. She's scared of things, and sometimes she does them anyway and sometimes she refuses and goes in the other direction. She's not exceptional and she doesn't strive to be, she just wants to be solidly good, with a fair bit of adrenaline-rush-type excitement along the way. I love her so much it's almost not even funny.
2 - Gabrielle - Xena: Warrior Princess
Gabrielle went on the most amazing journey. She starts out a sheltered village girls with dreams of adventure and throws herself headlong into travels with a crazy ex-warlord, and along the way she grows up and matures and learns about pain and love and betrayal and she goes through different phases and sometimes she's wrong and sometimes she's right and sometimes she fights because different things are right for different people and she becomes this AMAZING woman along the way and I really really love her more than anything.
1 - Xena - Xena: Warrior Princess
Xena would beat all these other ladies in a cage match against all of them at the same time, because Xena is awesome like that. She's fought for good when she was little, then she became evil, then she fights for good again, but really, most of the time she just likes to fight. She puts Gabrielle ahead of the greater good and she's not ashamed to admit it. She does as she pleases, when she pleases, she never claims it's the right thing to do, what it's the way she does things. I would never wanna marry her, because she's scary as heck, and kinda crazy, but I love her THIS MUCH more than anything.
Observe: Not once did I mention anyone's hair!
