It's a serious day-trip venture, and not cheap (though the cost at the end could easily have been far worse), but I have found my brassiere mecca: Bare Necessities, 1704 Boston Rd., Springfield, MA 01129, (413) 543-4642; barenecessities.com ( Read more... )

Very much so -- they measured, and tried what the measurement said, then adjusted straps and said, 'no, that's not right, let's try blah,' as well as advised on color, cut and cup-shape, and even helped me choose what would have the best staying power as I continue on in Weight Watchers. One of their people went so far (when I was ringing out) to point out that there was a low-cut thong on mega-sale that would match a couple of my chosen bras and would look really great on my figure -- better than the higher-cut one that I had initially chosen. (And she was totally right.) But at the same time, they knew when to go away and let you do your thing, and check back in later.
A couple of our girls were also on specific sub-quests (I need a strapless bra, I want a good corset, etc.), and they rather proactively advised on fit, style, and all that jazz.
(Of course, with two cars worth of us, we pretty much commandeered their whole fitting room, so we were running around the place like we owned it; however, considering that we all bought a fair share of stuff, I don't think they minded overmuch.)

I liked that they really knew "Oh, this brand leans towards smaller, this brand has fuller cups," etc etc. They weren't just recommending size, but specific bras.
