Ah... now that I've read the booklet that came with it, this is a sort of magical communication device?

[Takato yelps and falls onto his back. Smeargle watches this and jumps forward defensively]

[ Karel moves quickly and recalls the ghost. he stares at the Pokeball almost harshly ]

Apologies for that. She's... well, I can't decide if aggressive or playful yet.

[ he steps over and offers his hand ]

It's okay, I don't mind. Smeargle keeps drawing on me. I think he likes to play pranks.

[ Karel nods and looks at the little thing, then points his Pokedex at it in the same manner he'd done with Gastly. but then... ]

So... I'm called Karel, good to meet you. [ he says it extending his hand again for a handshake ]

Nice to meet you! [Takato looks at the hand in confusion for a momnet before shaking it.] I'm Takato.

No, I just arrived here. Someone told me I should go to the next town.

Next town... I suppose. I was hoping that if I waited a bit, things might become apparent as to why exactly I'm here, but I've waited for nearly a day.

[ he sighs as though accepting the finality of that ]

I'll need to replenish supplies... Would you want to travel together?

I wouldn't mind. Traveling together is a lot more fun. But there are are some people I promised to meet somewhere on this road. They said they were closer to other end of the road.

Well, if you'd like, I can get you there? It would be safer, and company is never a bad thing. [ he says it with a bit of a smile ] I'll just need to put out the fire and we can be on our way.

[ he chuckles a bit - maybe he's misreading it, but that hesitancy... well, far be it from him to intrude ]

Of course, if you have friends... well, I'd not want to bother. You seem capable, if you'd prefer to go it alone.

Oh no, I like the idea of traveling with someone. I'm kind of really bad at reading the map, too. And it could be a few days before I can find them.

Well. Before we leave, it said in the book that I arrived with something about battling our partners to make them stronger. Does yours seem so inclined?

...I saw that. But I don't like that idea. It feels like... there should be more than just fighting. I understand about fighting to protect and to defend the world. But fighting just to fight? That sounds like what RUki thought about digimon at first.

I had supposed it would be more like sparring... I wouldn't think that they would actually-

[ he looks down and considers ] Though we did run into a small creature with leaves on its head that attacked, and we had to incapacitate it to move forward.
