my fear is that in our death-throes
our generation's last words will be
"cool invite, bro", as life continues on without us
that our status will only end up
as being
"in a serious relationship" with our own selves
one mired in self-abuse, self-aggrandizement, and self-pity
that our photographs will show nothing but
selfi-
sh shots of our own faces
and not of a world we changed for the better
but rather
a world in which all -isms were both
deified and demonized
my fear is a digital one
which exists both in me and in machines
both present and yet to be begotten
there is ignorance in the machine
and we are the ones who put it there
feed it
and laugh out loud
at the mirror-monitor's image
