Myspace.com is the latest craze with online communities. I use it mainly for communication purposes. I don’t really participate in the bulletins and I don’t add people unless they add me first. I will add someone that I know personally.

I have been reading a lot of criticism lately about it and I agree with a lot but I do think that its cool way for ppl to learn layout and be creative with technology and the times we live in. when specials are going to be made about this decade, myspace will certainly be there along side 9/11, Iraq, and all that pop culture I haven’t paid attention to so I can list anything else.

Im not anti myspace but I do think its ridiculous the way its been deified somewhat within the pop culture milieu. Who could forget when MIRC was the way to talk to people online before Instant Messenger took its place? That was 10 years ago and I think back about everything and I have to laugh at how technology is advancing everyday and how everyone now has cell phones. The payphone is being ripped out of every wall. Many people just assume that you have a cell phone like they assume everyone owns and drives a car. Again, im not anti cell phone either, I just don’t have the use for one.

Its funny that people assume that life was horrible before all this innovating technology came to be and how it must have been that people had to “suffer” because they did not have all this great technology to make life actually worth living. Maybe that’s a bit extremely, but that’s how a lot of people act and its gross.

Im happy and I don’t have a fraction of those conviences. People talk about the future in the sense of flying cars and robots walking around town. I don’t doubt that we will have a “BRAVE NEW WORLD” and we will have microchips implanted into us humans. This is what is going to constitute a totalitarian system. We are already living in a police state. George Bush OK’D domestic spying here in the so-called land of the free. Maybe it’s cliché to say that history repeats it self. I consider myself a historian of sorts and I say that you have 2 main sorts of historical belief systems. Linear and cyclical. I subscribe to the cyclical school of thought.

Look back to the 1950’s to the early 1970’s. The reason, the big reason why all those movements didn’t work out was because of our good friends with the FBI. I don’t really think I need to explain this if you know that part of history. The difference between now and then is that now we are being told that BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING US AND IT’S PERFECTLY NORMAL. Big Brother is the most famous voyeur of all time.

If those folks who broke into the FBI offices in Media Pennsylvania never completed their actions, we would be living in harsher times, but also consider where we are now was going to happen regardless. ORWELL WAS RIGHT.

Back to what I said earlier, history does repeat it self. Instead of spying on your neighbor and turning him or her in for being a communist, now you can turn your neighbor in for being a terrorist. Terrorist being defined the same way a person committed to change was defined in the mid 20th century. Traitor for not being faithfully blind.

I suppose im ranting. Im just commenting on the times we live and how things aren’t that much different than the recent past. The story is the same, but the names have been changed.
