I'm a bit anal when it comes to paying for my groceries. I watch prices and codes to make sure I'm not being charged for shiitake when I get crimini and all that jazz. (it's happened and I caught it right away. Shiitake smell bad and I don't eat them - I used to package them at the produce market many moons ago.)
Today was interesting however. In an effort to have things on hand should the hubby want a snack, I elected to get ice cream from Save On. Granted it's one of my favourites not his, but I don't eat strawberry ice cream. It's just not my thing. I got Sasquatch Trails. It's nummy. But I digress.
The cashier scans it. And the price isn't the sale price. And I boggle. "That didn't ring in right. I swear the sign said 5.89 not 6.99."
So a price check is done.
And lo, it was on sale but someone forgot to fix the 'puter.
Lesson learned - if you see a sale sign and it's actually the sale price (or they forgot to take the sign off after the flyer expired) but it rings in at the regular price, and they find out you're right - it's free.
Craziness. I was willing to pay the sale price on an override but the cashier was adamant. Store policy is free if the price it scans in isn't the price that's posted on the shelf.
