sigh. what a day. :) i'm sick, but it doesn't really matter.
i had an intense dance workshop today with a these dancers from zimbabwae and one from new york city. we started with breathing and slow movement exercises just to get us into the rhythm and to loosen up. then they started in on slow choreography, which was hard. especially since me and hannah were taking attitude from all the girls for being the only non-dance-majors there. but whatever. so we were there for about three hours, and i danced so hard. some of the stuff we did i never would've guessed my body could do, or move in that way. but it was awesome. at one point the teacher (who had the most amazing accent ever) took me and hannah's hand and walked us across the room to the rhythm of this drum track. as soon as we left the warm-ups, it became real obvious real fast that you couldn't anticipate your movements, you can't think about what you're doing. you just have to feel the bassline and give in to your body, to the point where the movement becomes instinct, and your mind just focuses on your center point of balance. plus it was just a whole lot of fun. especially watching the troops dance/demonstrate. i have so much love and so much appreciation for culture. emylee, or whatever rediculous spelling of her name is right, sat out and wrote. i have notes and words and images scribbled down, but nothing of real product yet. it seems to bold to try and write about it.
tomorrow i leave after fifth and have a driving hour from 12-2, then work from 3-10. i don't know how i'm gonna go about doing this productively. come visit me?
aside from sucky physical health and even suckier weather, things are still falling into place exactly where it feels right. aniconcertaniconcertaniconcert.
HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY JKIM-SON!! you sexy lindy-hopper, you. i'm still working out the kinks on that present...expect it sometime by...intermezzo? ha ;)
