Yarn Instructor? Yups, that's me!

Received my confirmation email from the Yarn Council on Sat - basically just stating that they received my "contract" and approved me for the teacher position @ my store. Has only taken THREE months to do so!!!!! They said that it will take 2-3 weeks before I receive my "packets" containing the workbooks & lesson plans and after I receive those I can start teaching. I stopped by the store today and Boss & I sat down and planned out the 1st months classes. They are kinda squished together since I have to wait until Mid-June before I can do anything but hopefully I will get some interest. Boss supplied yarn for me to start making up sample boards for the classroom, as well as some yarn to make up full-sized samples to hang in the yarn dept to serve as advertisements for the classes. Last year, during a sales contest, I made up a sample of a dishcloth pattern we had in Sugar N' Cream and we had to re-order the pattern 3 times. We won the sales contest as well :D So hopefully people will see the samples and want to make the projects, so that means they have to take the class! Yup, I'll pretty much do anything to get people into these classes :)
They are pretty cool though. The student can pick from 2 different patterns to learn a technique. So for the 1st class - basic learn to crochet - which is designed for people who have never crocheted before, they can choose to do either a skinny scarf or a smart phone/IPod cover. I made up the Phone Cover in about 20 min. But 8 years ago it would have taken me 3 days or better to do! There are 4 classes in each program - 4 knit, 4 crochet. So I will hopefully be teaching 8 classes a month. In June I will be offering the crochet classes during the day and the knit classes in the early evening, but I had to squish around the other classes that were already scheduled out so in July I might decide to change it up...
Anyways, back to making my samples :)
