On her way to find the Black Order, Miranda Lotto had been abducted by a group of akuma who had been sent to capture the woman and destroy her innocence before she became an exorcist. The akuma made a mistake, only taking the woman and leaving the grandfather clock that contained her raw innocence behind.
Lulubell was the Noah in charge of this group of akuma and when they returned with the woman and lacked her innocence, Lulubell deemed the woman useless and decided to hand her over to a disgusting man who was an ally of the Earl. The man, Lord Fraener, accepted the Noah’s gift and turned Miranda into a personal slave. She had a dog collar affixed to her neck that was attached to a chain leash, which Fraener always used to lead her around. Miranda was abused during the day, being forced to do impossible tasks and immediately being beaten and whipped as punishment. During the night whether the man had any guests over or not she would be raped and sexually tortured until he became bored or she passed out from the stress.
When the Black Order realized that Miranda was no where to be found they sent out a set of Finders to locate her, but they all turned up with nothing. Three months later, a group Finders turned up the first clue. They managed to find Miranda’s precious grandfather clock, worn-out and abandoned in a forest. The location of the clock however gave no information on Miranda’s current whereabouts since the item was useless to everyone except her, and it was clear the clock had been physically dumped in the forest, so it could have come from anywhere. The Order was glad they at least recovered the woman’s innocence before the Earl got a hold of it, but the loss of a fellow exorcist was still a huge problem. Hevlaska told Komui that the host of the innocence was still Miranda, therefore she was still alive somewhere. Even though they had no clues on where she was, they always had Finders out looking for information on where she might be.
It would be another three months by the time the Black Order heard a rumor of akuma killing people in a certain town. It just happened to be the city Lord Fraener lived in and it was his own akuma that were causing all the problems. They sent Allen and Lavi to go check it out. When the two entered the city, they immediately noticed a problem. The two decided to split up and search the city for the source of the akuma. While searching, Lavi just happened to run into Lulubell, who told the young man about the ally of the Earl who had been given the akuma. Lavi didn’t believe the woman at first, but when he noticed that the demons were all appearing from Fraener’s mansion he realized her words had been true. The man had angered the Earl and Lulubell was sent back to the location to get rid of him herself, but why make the effort when the exorcists could simply do the job for her?
Lavi burst into the mansion hero style, smashing his way through the halls with Tessei easily cornering the man in one of the rooms. Miranda was with Fraener when Lavi kicked the door open to question the man. She was only wearing a large loose shirt that covered most of her body. Dry blood clung to parts of her clothing and wounds around her body. She was thin and very malnourished, dirty, and her legs were held with shackles so she couldn’t run away. Fraener pulled on the chain connected to her collar and used the woman as a shield to protect himself from the young Exorcist. Miranda simply stood in front of the man, showing no signs that she was agreeing with the command or refusing. She was beaten, broken, and nothing more than a doll. Lavi was completely disgusted with how Fraener had treated another human being and if it wasn’t for the fact that the man was human, he would’ve killed him right then and there… But that never stopped the redhead from punching him in the face a few times and leaving him in a bloody mess until the Police came to arrest him. Lavi took it upon himself to take the woman with him. He didn’t know who it really was and even as he carried her down the halls of the mansion, she never spoke or even looked him in the face.
After the whole ordeal, Lavi and Allen returned to the Order with Miranda. Normally she would have gone into the nearest hospital in the city she had been found in, but Allen had a feeling he knew the broken woman and they took her back with them. After her wounds were cleaned and she was given proper clothing, it was clear that the woman was Miranda Lotto, the exorcist who had gone missing six months ago. Being an exorcist, she remained within the Black Order, but after being beaten, tortured, whipped and raped for the last six months, the woman was so traumatized that she never spoke, looked anyone in the face or even ate on her own. She had her own personal aid that took care of her. After being in the Order for a week, her mental state didn’t improve, until one day Lavi noticed Miranda’s aid leading the woman down the hall and he walked over with a smile to see how she was doing. Greeting the woman with a cheerful “Hello!” made her aid simply shoo the boy away telling him that there was no point in taking to the girl when she wouldn’t reply to him. Sighing, Lavi turned to leave, when for the first time the woman took her first steps on her own and reached out to grab the boy’s sleeve, not wanting him to leave. She looked up at him with her cloudy gray eyes and said the first words anyone had ever heard her speak, “Please don’t go.”
Ever since that day when Miranda said her first words to the young man who had taken her away from her abusive life, Lavi had been spending most of his time with the woman, trying his very best to repair her broken soul. Eventually she no longer needed a personal aid as long as she was with Lavi. They would always have small simple conversations that would grow and grow. When Lavi had to leave on a mission Miranda would always silently wait for his return so he could tell her all about it. It was about a month later when Miranda had recovered enough that she had her own will again, but effect of the trauma had remained, making her timid, jumpy, nervous and deathly afraid of strangers. She rarely left her room by herself unless someone she knew was willing to escort her to where she wanted to go. She was almost ten times worse than she was when Allen and Lenalee had first met her, but Komui knew the woman still had potential. It just had to be awakened again like Allen and Lenalee had brought it out before.
She soon made enough progress that Komui offered to return the woman’s innocence. Miranda agreed. She wanted it. Despite the trauma she had and how timid she was around the Order, she still wanted to help. She felt in debt to the Black Order for being so kind and to Lavi for saving her. She began short training sessions with the Time Record, but her progress was quite slow. It didn’t take long for Komui to ask Lavi if he would join in a few of her sessions since he knew Miranda had a connection to the young man. Once Lavi started encouraging the girl in her training, it wasn’t long until she was ready to go out on her first mission. It was a simple mission and of course she went out with Lavi. This was the first time she had left the Black Order since she left Lord Fraener’s mansion. She was nervous and scared of the outside world, but the redhead’s cheerful attitude and his bright smile kept her in good spirits, and they completed their small mission together within record time.
It wasn’t long after that, that Miranda began to feel more comfortable around the Black Order and really thought of the members as her friends and family. She still had a strong connection to Lavi and preferred to be with him if she had to go out on a mission, but Miranda soon grew to be a very valued part of the Black Order and a wonderful Exorcist.
Timeline: Besides the change in time of arriving at the Black Order she still went through all of the things she did in the anime.
She’s taken from where the anime had ended so after the level 4 was defeated and all that.(After canon update) She would be canon to the most recent chapter, 209.
Appearance: She wasn’t given the third uniform yet so she often wears her second uniform or several dark colored dresses. Depending on how high the neck is on the outfit she may also wear a small scarf. (After canon update) She would wear the same outfits, but would normally wear the third uniform.
Scar Placement: She has thick, noticeable scars of many types all along her back, going out to roughly her shoulders to partway down her thighs. They consist of whip, burn, and several types of cuts with different types of knives. They over lap and its difficult to figure how exactly how many there are. The most noticeable scar on her back is a large deep wound facing sideways across her left shoulder blade.
She has one small 3 inch scar on her chest and 4 burn scars on her stomach rather close to her navel.
On her wrists, ankles and neck she has scars from wearing shackles and the collar she had worn before. The scars are from the many times she had struggled until the skin broke under the metal and didn’t heal properly.
She is extremely self conscious about her scars and does all she can to cover them up. Very few people have seen them and she dislikes talking about them. The only scars the others know about are the scars on her hands she obtained in the encounter with Road Kamelot.
(After canon update) While in the dressing room Miranda obtained burn scars on both her wrists from her encounter with
Ravi. She also has gained many new cuts across both her arms and right shoulder because of an attack by her own Kanda. There is also a scar on the side of her head from the attack, but her dark hair hides it quite easily.
Who is Colin?: Colin is a
Chinese Crested Dog that Miranda found while in the dressing room. He began following her around 27 July 2010, and after a bit of hesitation she decided to keep him. Colin is the only thing Miranda knows she can trust with all her heart. He will always be happy to see her and never turn his back on her. She also uses him to read people she's never met before. She often judges people by his reaction to them. A dog knows you better than you know yourself. If you're a horrible person hiding behind a mask, he'll react badly. If you mean no harm he will react calmly, and Miranda knows this. Because Miranda loves to knit she has many various sweaters for the small hairless dog. He can always be seen wearing one.
Colin's appearance is borrowed from images I found on google. The images are of a Chinese Crested named
Versace from Wyoming that I have no relation to. I don't own anything on Versace, I'm just borrowing his image for Colin.
