My PC burst into flames. How fucking cool is that? Bright orange dirty flames and buckets of creamy plastic-smoke pouring out my PC. So 21st century kids...
All the peripheral power cables have melted together so I don't think it's too safe to start plugging it in and checking what still works just yet. Fair to say I'm pretty sure the DVD writer and the Hard disk are gone, dead, kaput. The motherboard looks OK and the GFX card seems to have survived.
There's little worse than dropping £200+ on a piece of kit and watching it go to powerspike heaven.

So I'm debating whether to drop some reserve cash on a lappy. I can't be arsed to rebuild the desktop right now 'cos it would mean lots of ordering bits as I find out they're broken which could take weeks OR; buying a whole new desktop setup and praying little things like the GFX card really did survive.
To be fair, a notebook would be damn handy 'cos a lot of my plans involve me needing a PC wherever I end up being. (I'm a technoslut, I make no apologies.) At the moment I'm looking at the Fuji-Siemens A1667G 'cos it's well nice for under a grand. Hmmm, Malcy, where are you when I need a product suggestion? So many lappies out there, so much over-priced poop.
