I need to find a new home for my two black kitties. I cannot afford to care for them the way they should be cared for. I can't even keep them in my room anymore because my allergies have gotten so bad. It pains me to type this as I hear them crying for me to let them in my room.
I need help finding them a good home. I would prefer that the two be kept together as they were litter mates. They are extremely lovey and love crawling all over me and sleeping with me. While that's a great characteristic, it makes it worse for me allergywise and I can't let them sleep with me anymore.
Right now I have to keep them in a separate room at night because they cry and scratch at my door, not allowing me to sleep. As a construction worker who has to be up at 5 sometimes 4 am, that doesn't help me. I let them roam my basement as much as possible, but when I do, I start sneezing like crazy and I can't be around them. The boyfriend is also very allergic which makes it that much harder for me to keep them out. They don't have any windows to look out of and I know they like to look at whats going on outside.
Way back when I moved back to NJ, my mom didn't have her dog. He was in FL with my brother. So the cats were allowed to roam upstairs and look out the windows once a week. Well, we had to bring the dog back home, so that came to an end. They do not get along. Had he been a little toy poodle like my other dog and not a pitbull, they would be fine.
They get along with other cats, so long as you introduce them and let them play through a door first before letting them out together. It usually takes about a week for them to start playing together. My cats are very playful and curious. They aren't really the scratchy, growly types unless they are scared. Ex: tossing them in a room with a cat they've never met before.
I feel really bad for my cats being cooped up. I can't afford to get an apartment of my own anytime soon for them to roam freely in. And with me working different job sites in NJ and all the money I'm spending on gas and tolls, I'm just not able to afford all three anymore. I have to scrounge to get them food and litter. Forget about the shots they need.
I'm planning on keeping Owen as he is a light colored cat and from what I hear, their dander is not as bad. Unlike the babies, he doesn't feel the need to be all over me while I sleep either. And 1 cat is easier to manage and care for than 3.
All that being said:1. they need to have their shots. I cannot afford to take them to the vet and god forbid something happened to one of them I could not afford to get them cared for.
2. They are indoor cats and aren't likely to have any cooties.
3. They are extremely loveable so they need to be somewhere they'll get a lot of attention.
4. They are pretty well behaved. They may jump on the countertop, but if you point to the floor and sternly advise them to 'get down', they usually listen.
5. They looove cheese.
6. They love to cuddle, especially Mayhem. And Mischief likes being carried around and held like a baby. Mayhem doesn't like being picked up.
7. They are not declawed, but have been neutered. I could not bear to see them in unnecessary pain (clawless), but I knew they couldn't go around having babies either...lol They need a scratching post badly or they may scratch up furniture. But they do not scratch people. They only do so when playing. They like to nibble and catch your fingers, and Mayhem kneads you while he's perched on you at night.
8. Mischief does somersaults at your feet to show his affection and to get your attention.
-I do NOT want to take them to a shelter. Went through that once with an animal a long time ago. Never again!
-I know this was long but I do love my cats and want to find them the right home. The fact of the matter: its not fair for them to be cooped up. They need a place to play in the open, with windows and affectionate people that can afford to care for them properly. If you know of anyone, please let me know.
Thanks
Diana
PS: my Boi just offered to help me pay for stuff for my cats but I know he can't afford it as much as I can't. It was a nice gesture tho. He knows how much I love them, but in all reality. Helping me get them food and litter won't get them in a better living situation. :/ We'd both still be severly allergic and they'd still be stuck in a windowless room.
