[It's late at night, late enough when most people are asleep. Alexei is one of those people...or well, was. His journal had been placed aside, but it can still pick up sounds. Roughly it picks up someone violently waking up. Alexei found himself wandering into memories he didn't like to recall. They were quick flashes, but his moments

I got everythin' I was lookin' for back home'n more. Met people I can call family along the way'n couldn't be happier. Nearly gave up my life for it but, if we didn't, we would've all died anyway.
[He yawns noisily then clearly flops down on the ground.]
How 'bout you?

I had goals outside of myself. I lived in a system that dictated our future based on our birth. If you were born a noble, you stayed rich, born a commoner and you stayed poor. I wanted to change that old way of thinking and bring equality for everyone, where you decided on your own future base your own skills. Unfortunately that involved fixing the problem from within the system itself. It's not a very easy task.
[He can tell he was outside as well.]
What did you mean you would have all died?

Can't say it would be. Somethin' nice to work for, though. If you've gotta bunch of people who're lookin' to change it with you, sure makes it a bit easier. Never been much for all those politics.
[He makes a slight noise, something between a grunt and a sigh.]
Things started out kinda easy. All I wanted was sacred eres, powers that no one'd ever seen before. I got 'em but only 'cause we were tryin' to save everyone in our world. A goddess was tryin' to turn back time so everythin' we all did? Wouldn't mean anythin'. We'd go back to nothin' and have to do it all over again.

Hm. Things always seem much simpler at the start. That would have been terrible, and what would the odds be that any of you would have repeated the same things again? I doubt your memories would have stayed intact.
[...memory stuff just makes him think about how the Luceti tends to mess around with memories.]

[You can almost hear him thinking about that, wondering the same thing.]
From what we were hearin', it kinda sounded like we've been makin' the same mistakes over'n over. Just that it was the first time that we ever fought back. I'm bettin' no one knew that it was comin' 'till we saw it with our own eyes.

Exactly. Congratulations on your victories.
What's your name, if I may ask and where are you from? Your accent is rather distinct.

Name's Moses'n I'm from the Legacy. I'm guessin' you ain't familiar with it unless you're from the mainland. [He pauses at that then sighs lightly.]
I kinda was born on the mainland. Come from a clan of beast tamers so we ain't exactly pridin' ourselves on bein' like royalty. Found my beast to tame when I was a kid'n I was exiled 'cause of it so I ended up on the Legacy. They were worried my new buddy'd kill 'em all in their sleep.

Actually, neither of those locations you mentioned sound familiar to me. The Legacy? And what about the mainland, what is the name of it?

[He snorts contemptuously at that.] None of 'em own the Legacy. They tried'n failed to take it over, even draggin' all of us into a war.

[Well, the Legacy is far away so...no harm.]
There's a weapon on it. Somethin' that destroys a whole lotta land in one blow. Anyone who's got it would probably have everyone bowin' to 'em. Problem is, the thing uses Ferines to do its thing. They're people of the water so I'm sure you're seein' the problem with that. Seen it work with my own eye, would really like to not see it work that way again.
