There was another experiment that happened about two months ago that caused people to transform.

Yes. Although in that particular case, people were turning into inanimate objects as well.

Some had to, a few changed back before the end of the experiment. Some were able to move on their own, others needed assistance.

It was quite contained from what I did observe. I suspect the experiment that came after caused more problems than that one.

Basically the Malnosso decided to play with our emotions. People were unintentionally falling in love with one another for a week. There was a strange tree in the plaza that also bear fruit that influenced people's emotions as well.

Yes, the village itself is similar to villages in Naraka, however ... this world itself is just different. Its laws, and various other things, are not similar to the ones in my home world. [ More specifically, the fact that Avatars aren't even known about in this world - they aren't discriminated against - as well as many other things, though that one thing is one of the biggest. ]
