I've been thinking about Event games in general, and about the Georgia Event specifically.
- I agree that there is very little IC incentive to hold an Event in GA. In theory, there's "prestige" from hosting large gatherings, but I've yet to see anyone get anything for hosting an event here. So, hosting an IC event is just opening yourself up for an opportunity for some jackass to get "offended" by you.
- I think the majority of our local players would prefer for there to be no Coord plot at our Event. Overall, I think that Coord plots have detracted far more than they have added in years past.
- We like having visitors. I think getting visitors is the only aspect of the Event that I really like. Sure, I like IC parties, but we don't need an Event for that. I have just as much fun doing them at normal games.
- If there isn't an IC reason to hold an Event, why hold one?
- It seems that every game wants to have a yearly event now. I think if ours were every other year, it would be better. Especially if we traded off with other games in the South.
- I think the hosts of an event should make an event they want to attend. There are so many, that no one needs to worry too much about what will please the masses. It's better to make something great that you love than something that you think other people might like. You are better are knowing your own opinion than guessing at others.
