He paused and frowned, then looked over at her, one hand hovering over the coordinates setting. "What do you think of the Empire State Building?"
He was more or less certain there wouldn't be any squirrels up there.

And he's back to focusing on the TARDIS and apparently ignoring the girl's existence for the moment. Alien squirrels are far more important than one little American girl's confusion and million and one questions.

She fiddled with her necklace, a fob watch pendant on a long chain, the pendant clasped in her hand, out of sight.

"No you're not. Well, maybe the withdrawal and stress part, I can't be sure about that, but the rest of it, no."

She sighed and perched on the railing, letting go of the pendant. It was relatively small, not the most noticeable, with an etching of cogs and clockwork on the front. "Okay, fine, say I'm not hallucinating. Who are you, where are we, and why were those squirrels chasing you?"

He tilted his head to one side, listening, and then grinned and nodded to the door. "Actually, you might want to go look for yourself."

She opened the door, and her suspicious expression melted, and she lit up. "Oh! Oh!"
The city was spread out at her feet, as she stood on the tip-top of the Empire State Building, the lights starting to glow as the sun set. It was beautiful, her city. The sunset turned the sky a deep red, and it made something in her chest twist, and she couldn't say why. "It's beautiful."

She blinked, shook her head. "Bleh, heartbreaking. Tripped over my tongue."
