it's hard for me to compare rent, because i've never lived in a building as nice as the one i've live in now. i have a 1 bedroom place (about 750 sq feet) with all the bells and whistles - lots of closets, w/d, dishwasher, blahblah. i pay $1450/mo, which seems outrageous to me, but then again, i'd probably be paying about $1200+/mo in phillly. i love my place though. there's a roof deck on the 7th floor. i have huge windows. tons of space. it's perfect for me.
there's no trains right now, but the buses are great. they're clean, and the drivers are friendly and helpful. between 6am - 7pm the downtown buses are free. it's not a huge area covered, but free is free. :) i think the buses further out in the burbs have wifi, but i'm not sure. i only live a little over a mile from work, so i usually walk.
it's definitely a neighborhood oriented city. i live in belltown which is kinda yuppie and douchebaggy, but i guess that's my thing. capitol hill is the gay neighborhood and has a lot of cute shops and bars. pioneer square is where all of the original seattle buildings are, and it has a lot of art galleries.
i'm working for Amazon, specifically on endless.com.
