I've recently found myself in the care of a small bird-- a goldfinch, to be more precise.

Unfortunately, taking care of pets is... not my area of expertise. Would anyone kindly offer their advice?

Birds are a lot different than most pets. They require special care~

You should get some books!

Books were my next resource, if no one here could offer adequate information.

what sort of goldfinch? European, American...?

I don't believe they differ that much in care, but - do you know?

Considering where I found it, and the color of its feathers, I think it's a European one.

Lovely. Is it a male or female~?

Hm.. they like seeds from thistles, I belive. You're in luck, seems they're not bad with the human-kind. Their song is quite pleasant too, isn't it? Mh... you know I believe that certain cookware should be avoided if you have a bird because the fumes are like a silent poison to them.

I'm... not quite sure how to tell.

Seeds from thistles? I hope our local pet store has some. If not, I'll have to order it specially. What cookware should be avoided?

Mh.. the markings should be a set off, if it is truly a European.

My, lets hope! I'm sure normal bird seed will do just fine~
Silicon! I believe. It's pretty toxic for them.

I'll have to look it up.

Avoiding silicon should be no problem. Should I get it a cage?

Is it trained well enough? If so, I wouldn't bother with a cage -- if you can trust it to be well. But a cage would probably be best to keep it and its habitat together. No one says you can't take it out, of course~♥

Of course. It did have enough sense to follow me here all the way from Prussia, so perhaps a cage is unnecessary.

It seems loyal~ I think you'd be good to go as long as it knew where the food and water could be found.

Well, any time you need it; just ask I suppose. I'm sure I will know just about anything~

This is the first time I've ever been the sole caretaker of a pet. I'd like to do things right.
