we're burning down the highway skyline

at long last, my car has arrived...but with a long dent on top of the trunk, which rather saddens me. so i'll have to find somewhere to get that fixed.

things about having a car and being able to drive:

--good: i can take road trips whenever i feel like it, or at least be independent and not have to rely on boston taxis all the time.

--bad: brandeis decided to be mean and the sophomore lot is not even on campus. you have to take a shuttle to even get to the lot or back on campus, unless you really feel like taking a long walk. i thought i'd gotten my dose of shuttles and shortage of parking while at buckley.

--obnoxious: the sophomores' former lot is right behind my building, but it's now reserved for faculty; the faculty doesn't even park there! and you get slapped with a $20.00 fine if you park anywhere but you're allotted parking lot.

--frustrating: i already have a $20.00 dollar fine because a) i didn't have a permit on my car and b) i didn't even know where the new lot was.

--and also, highways suck. paying tolls suck. getting a ticket for being in the wrong lane and going through without paying sucks. no wonder they're called freeways in california; what a concept, use roads for free. and for some reason, roads with forks are omnipresent in boston and surrounding areas. it's as if some brilliant member of the city council said: i know what we can do with this surplus tax money! let's put forks in every road!
