My first day of school. I will try to keep it interesting and not a long list of stupid events. I met Tobi Zizka at the bus station and he escorted me to school for my first day. It was very nice of him seeing as how i get lost in the big town pretty easily. However seeing as how i am in love with this country before school we all had a first day of school beer. Then we attended about an hour of 'home room' and that was it...that was the first day of school. It was an entire hour. I was quite suprised. There are a couple cool people in my class, 4 to be exact. Everyone else is a huge nerd. They are in love with school, in love with knowing the answer, and in love with themselves. The other 4 kids are cool though, and since i am not a human calculator i have been accepted into the Not Gay group and we have become good friends. We all sit in the back row like cool kids and then make fun of ourselves for sitting in the back row and being cool kids. They are all real interesting down to earth punk earthy crunchy dudes. In german we have a word for overachiever type peoples, it is klugsheisse. Klug is wise and sheisse is shit :) After school we went and had a first day of school is now over beer. Thats it. The next couple days of school were kinda fun. I basicaly sit in the back and eat gummy bears. In english class i can participate, and i can follow calculus pretty well, but thats it. The rest of the time i thank god that this year doesnt count for me. My math teacher is really cool. At the beginning of class he came up to me and introduced himself, and shook my hand. Shaking your hand is a big thing here so i really appreciated that. Other than that every teacher has ignored me. He asked me the english word for a box in math. I told him a rectangular solid and the whole class burst out into laughter. The teacher and i gave the rest of the class the fag look. I fail to see what you could possibly find funny about the word 'rectangular solid' fucking klugsheissen. I write down sentences in class and Tobi corrects them with his red piggy pen. It is quite entertaining, that is the peak of my academic progress there though. Tobi is really cool, we went into the storage closet and got a plastic shelving unit on wheels, its just a littl thing, and rearranged the class room so that at our desk we have a shelfing unit to put our stuff. No one said a thing to us, apparently they are used to it. We feel pretty cool that we put our own furniture in the classroom. I will have to take some pics of the classroom to show you folks. Um lets see, school is generally school so it sucks. Although on friday Tobi gave me a present. I had told him that in america really only girls where colored socks, and that we mostly just wear white socks. He felt sorry for me so he went out and bought me a pair of kick ass socks from H und M....They kick ass...oh wait, hold on i have a pic

Heh. European style is a bit different, i cant wait to find myself some sweet euro clothes, until then the socks will have to do.
Some things you should know about austrian schools. You stay in the same classroom the whole day and a different teacher comes in every hour. When a teacher walks into the room you have to stand up and wait till they tell you to sit again. The desks i will show you in a picture, but you sit two to a desk, they just made the desks twice as big and you sit in pairs...its different. Also you dont have lunch at school. In austria lunch is your main meal of the day, its really cool. So when you go to school you take a yowser, we dont have an english word for it except maybe snack. It is just a small somethign to eat that you consume around 10, and then when school ends at 1 or 2 you go home and eat lunch. I like it. I dont know if it was just for the first week, but we have only been in school 6 hours in a day which is nice. Well theres a quick run through of schools, tschau.
