Change = good or bad

Well, a small update on the world o' Falcon and Sarmi. We're not getting the house we wanted to buy because my work history is too scattered. Sarmi and I discussed it and we're not upset because neither of us really wanted a $900.00 house payment. So Friday afternoon, we're headed to the realtor's to sign the papers to get our earnest money refunded and not even a block from the building we get T-boned at an intersection because some stupid 17 year old can't fucking drive. Then, with our car spun ninety degrees from where it started, dipshit hauls ass. I got his license plate number and so did a few witnesses so the cops were called and the fleeing driver apprehended. Neither Sarmi nor I was hurt, but our car ain't goin' nowhere without some serious work to the tune of more than the car is worth. On the other hand, we now know that 2005/2006 Chevy Trailblazer can smash into another vehicle at around fifteen miles an hour and not even dent the bumper.

So Saturday we get up and go car lot hopping. First was a Ford place where the saleman asked up to keep our drive short, so we test drove a 2005 Ford Escape (didn't like it.) A 2004 Mustang GT (for my personal pleasure) it sucked. No punch and it was a V8 too! Then the saleman put me in a 2005 Focus SVT. Said if I wanted punch then that little car would do it. Punch? Not so much. There was a failure to communicate on what each of us regarded as "punch." What I meant was a car that would bawl the tires until you let off the gas, or would catch a scratch when you put it to the floor at forty miles an hour. He apparently was under the impression that I wanted to accelerate rapidly with no screaming tires. I blame myself for not being clear. Anyway, parked the Rice Rocket and it was riced out complete with fart tip on the exhaust, and Sarmi and I had lunch then went to our local Dodge dealership.

Right off the bat the Dodge saleman was much more open to our wants. We started discussing cars and I mentioned the new Chargers and he took us to his V6 model. I pointed out that if I was going to get a Charger then I want Charger performance and he pulled out the V8 Hemi version and then with minimal discussion, copied my driver's license and insurance, gave us his card and told us to call him if we got a ticket and then sent us to drive to our hearts content. Now, that Charger had PUNCH! Good God, I fell in love with that car right off the first press of the gass pedal. I stomped on it pretty good, but I didn't really open 'er up or I would have been in the next town before I knew it and the only road we could test on is heavy with cops on weekends. So I turned around and let Sarmi drive it back and she too loved the power and pretty much everything about the car except for the chopped top. We weren't looking to buy a Charger anyway, so it's all good anyway. Bruce, the saleman then showed us his small SUVs and we test drove a 2006 Jeep Liberty, which was nice, but way too small for a guy my size, and then showed us his pre-used program vehicles, which is just a fancy way of saying "company cars that were driven for two years then traded in on the newer models, because company presidents and vice presidents can't be seen in a car that two years old or older." Ultimately we were not really interested in buying a Dodge anything, although that Charger really made me think twice, so we thanked Bruce for his time and then headed out to the Chevy place to look at Trailblazers and Equinoxes (what Sarmi wanted all along.)

The Chevy place is where we bought my first pickup, a 97 Dodge Dakota (used) and my current truck, the 1995 Chevy Silverado 3/4 ton. The guy at the Ford place didn't seem to want to show us what we specifically said we wanted to see, and the Dodge place was willing to show us anything we wanted and let us test drive it all day if we wanted, and the Chevy place... well, that salesman just happened to be the son of the owner and he seemed annoyed that we dragged him out of his nice, cool office and out into the blazing hot sun. Needless to say, when we do buy, it won't be from him because his whole demeanor annoyed us. I wish we could get ol' Bruce to sell us a Chevy, then we'd be happy as clams.

Sunday was pretty boring, I sat in the living room all day and played Need For Speed: Most Wanted and then we bought groceries and some odds and ends. Watched Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One For The Road (much better than the second one, equal to the first one) and then talked to Mad Eyed Mike on the phone for an hour and a half or so.

Monday, got up puking because Sarmi and I decided to experiment with my tea last night. They were out of my preferred variety so we grabbed a small container of Lipton Instant Lemon Tea instead of my regular unsweetened, un-lemon and she made a gallon of it for me. I took one drink and my stomach clenched, but I figured it was because it was new so I finished the glass and went to bed. Jump to this morning and Falc's heaving up his guts so much that I couldn't go to work which pissed me off because I like my job. So Sarmi drove me to work, so I could tell my boss I wouldn't be in today, I saw a co-worker outside sitting in her car and asked her if she could relay my message and when we got the affirmative, Sarmi drove me home, dropped me out and went to work herself. I crawled back in the bed and hoped to sleep off the effects of that tea. It's 1:37 in the afternoon right now and while I feel much better, I can still feel my stomach knotting up every once in a while. It's not enough to make me hurl, but it's far from pleasant too.

On the car front, we can't even talk with our insurance agent until we get a copy of the police report, so the new vehicle is up in the air.
