Manifesto of a Skateboarder...

Nov 29, 2004 15:48

I guess you could take this as in intro post for anyone that finds my journal and doesn't know me...

My name is Andy, I currently live in Aberdeen, Scotland, though I spent a few years in Edinburgh.
I spend most of my time skating, even though Aberdeen is not the greatest of places for this, due to the cruddy weather and lack of places to skate... But we get by! Heck, I'm out skating in weather most Los Angeleans wouldn't even think of goin out in! (before anyone takes offence, that actually comes from one of my old roommates who was from Pacific Palisades)

Here's my manifesto, as I like to call it:

I don't care whether you are a blader, boarder, biker, or whether you get your thrills elsewhere, as long as you love what you do, it's all good.

I believe that everybody must make their own choices in life, and that nobody has the right to discriminate on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexuality or lifestyle choice.

Everyone I meet for the first time is treated as a friend, unless they give me reason to do otherwise.

I am completely loyal to my friends, whatever may happen. To mess with my friends is to mess with me.

I skate becuase it's what I love. Not because I want sponsored or think I'm better than anyone else. Personally I think I'm pretty crap on a board, but I don't particularly care.

Skill means nothing to me. I'd rather skate with a complete newbie who is out to have fun than some prima donna with an ego.

I like to know if anyone has a problem with me, I'd rather get it in the open and sorted out than not know about it.

I also don't give a damn what people think of me. I am who I am and have no plans to change.
