Swim School Conference
Well, we just got back from conference in St. Petersburg. I love going to these things ... an entire week immersed in a group of people who share your passion for swimming and teaching. Awesome! I made it my goal this time to really get to know the people I meet. For the last couple years, I've been so shallow with my conversations and relationships (for simplicity-sake), and i'm seeing where that leaves me- I want more. I read a great old quote by Dale Carnegie and it rung very clear for me.
Also, I know that It's expected to leave with new ideas and everything, but I'm walking away from this so focused and energized. I want to graduate already! lol, If it weren't for swim club, I wouldn't have much to "look forward" to aside from the thought of getting out.
I haven't planned out any specifics yet, but in January, I'll be spending three weeks working with a swim school out in Phoenix. I'm actually really excited about it. It'll be a nice break from life and a great work opportunity at the same time. Mom and I were talking on the drive back, and we have no interest in copying them; but Bob and Kathy are extremely good businesspeople who have made the transition from teaching to corporation very smoothly. I've got a lot of respect for them and I'm so thankful for the chance to work with them.
Elon Swim Meet
So I don't care much for this pool, but it's always the best mid-season meet to attend b/c of the teams that attend. I'll deal with it. lol. Thankfully, this is a real meet with real events I can push for.
The agenda is short & sweet:
Saturday
Relay
100 free
200 IM
Relay
Sunday
Relay
200 free
100 fly
Relay
I'd normally sign up for the maximum number of events, but since I'm really more interested in times than points, I'm just swimming the four. I'm not taking any prisoners this time around ... Dad and I talked about trying a different strategy in the 100s, so we're gonna see what going out as fast as possible does to my times. I always hold back and never try balls to the walls ... we'll see what happens!
I'd keep writing, but it's time to unpack and reorganize. The fancy hotel didn't give internet access for free (like every cheap hotel in america), so I'm crazy behind on school work.
Back to the Grind ...
