Sorry it took so long (busy week for me too). But you'll be pleased to know the second chapter's almost done. And chapter three is the one I'm most excited about writing.

IT HAS ARRIVED! And it is very pleasingly bleak. :D I LOVE Jesse's reaction to the news of Walt's death -- that struck me as absolutely realistic and in-character.

Looking forward to where you'll take this!

Thanks so much for reading and particularly for your comment on Jesse's reaction to Walt's death. That was something I really wanted to get right so I'm very glad it felt real to you.

An intense and very plausible look at Jesse post Felina. I can't imagine how you intend for him to end up in a better state, but I desperately want to find out!

Who said anything about Jesse ending up in a better state *evil grin* Seriously though, I think all Jesse's options post-Felina are pretty damn bleak. I might try to make the best of Jesse's bad options, but it seems disingenuous to suggest that Jesse really has any good options at this point.

How's your Marie & Skyler fic coming? I can't wait for that either!

Psssst, you may have to wait till December 26th.:). Btw, would you be willing to beta it once it's done, in which case of course you'll read it earlier?

I'd love to beta for you! Your 'Anatomy of a Marriage' is one of my favourite BB fics, so I'm sure it'd be a pleasure. I really admire your ability to write Skyler. She's one of my favourite characters yet I think I'd find her extremely hard to capture in fic. I'm keen to write a Marie fic at some point though. Jesse, Marie and Todd were the three characters I wanted more of in 5B so they have been the ones I've had most fic ideas for.

Shit, if he was crying over Mr White then they must be tears of purest fucking joy.

Now Jesse was finally free but it wasn’t God who’d saved him. No, it was the Devil who came back for him in the end. The same Devil who’d put him in that cage to begin with. The same Devil who’d cursed his life since the day they had met. And yeah, the same Devil who had always been, like...Jesse’s weird-ass guardian angel.

I love these lines. It's so complicated, isn't it? But it feels so true. Jesse is such a mess of conflicted emotions at this point, as it should be.

“Thank you...” Jesse murmured.
Like Jesse, I'm having so much conflicted emotions right now. :(

he hated that this was the first thing he remembered.
sigh. Jesse has no control over what he feels. Poor baby.

It could have all ended out in the desert. It could have been perfect...a perfect moment to die. Jesse understood now. He finally got what Mr White had meant when he’d said all that shit.OMG this is just amazing. Just put a knife in my heart, will you ( ... )

It's so complicated, isn't it?

Understatement of the year, lol.

I remember listening to a BB podcast which was discussing the different characters allegiances in 5B and someone made a great comment that Jesse was the wild card because his allegiance is to his own feelings. I don't agree with Jesse being the moral compass of the show (a lot of Jesse's choices are not moral at all) but he's certainly an emotional compass. That's what I wanted at the start of this fic: Jesse learns Mr White is dead, Jesse's compass takes him out to the desert. And no, he can't control it.

Old Joe didn't recognize Jesse. :(

Though like Walt strolling around ABQ in Felina, Jesse not being recognizable may be an advantage right now.

MIKE!!!!!!! :( :((((((( I love how you brought back Mike! It makes so much sense... all the little details like Clovis and how Old Joe help setting up the portable lab. You know your cannon! Well I have to give credit to BrBa wiki here. It was only when I went to old Joe's page that I remembered it was Joe who built ( ... )
