Summary: Charlie chases a Scottish man through the rainy streets of London, which leads him to a fateful meeting in an antique shop. Written for the

Oh then you are at my favorite book of the whole series! Fact is, King is my guilty pleasure and the DT is the guiltiest of all the pleasures I got from King. And I guess one of the reasons fro which I loved S1 Charlie to pieces was that they made some Eddie references with his character (the drugs in the plane's toilet anyone..?) and Eddie is hands down my favorite King character ever. Probably ranks in my top 3 of general favorite characters. Thing is, I didn't like much how it ended and I hope Darlton is not going that way, but lots of people liked it so I won't say anything else ;) I sincerely hope for the paradox thing, the Jake/Charlie comparison fits a lot and seeing that the paradox may have been created there could be more than a chance. Let's hope..
And a movement should be started. Hell, I'm hating fate from S1 episode 20 (because I'm a masochist and 19 may be my favorite ever), I've hated it until now, I'll hate it forever. We should found some monastery for the movement and ask Desmond whether he wants to join. Of course we don't care about the sexual gender issues ;)
Eddie is my favourite too. He IS very Charlie-ish in his sarcastic humour and especially his backstory with his wankerish older brother getting him hooked on heroin, etc. Actually someone suggested that Charlie is like a blend of Eddie Dean and Larry Underwood from 'The Stand'. The druggie and the one-hit-wonder; screw ups with heroic depths(?)
I'm sooo not a fate fan. I'm a humanist and I felt like the ordeal that fate inflicted on Desmond/Charlie was just a cruel and unusual punishment. I don't see why fate needed to be so merciless and sadistic towards them. I just wanted Des/Charlie to win, you know? I wanted to see a triumph for 'the human story' that I feel has been slipping away from the show since S1.
Yay another Eddie fan! I totally love him and yeah, I forgot about the brothers issue but that's a thing they have in common too. True also about Larry, who actually was my favorite in The Stand. Mh, didn't he use drugs too in the beginning? I may be wrong though, I read that book ages ago ;)
Amen, amen, amen. I so wanted them to win too, it's SO not fair. Oh, Darlton, undo the mess, won't you? *pleads* and that's true, S1 had really a more 'human' feeling. At least we got Des from S2/3 but I still miss 1.
Yeah, I think Larry was a druggie too, but not a heroin addict. Like Charlie he also was famous for one song.

I think it's cos in S1 they had more human characters in the ensemble - the bickering young brother/sister, the strained father/son, the knocked up girl, Charlie and Hurley who were always inept everyman guys. But since then the human characters have slowly been written out or killed off and we are mostly left with the more hardened characters - the criminals, soldiers, hunters, hitmen, fugitives, etc. Hurley is the real only human character left now from the original cast. Claire too, but her character is barely a presence these days.
Yeah, I pray that they undo the mess too. Not just cos I want Charlie back. I don't think it's satisfying for Desmond's journey that he should carry such guilt and failure and torment over those flashes.
