I'm so glad you think this is a strong story to go out on, sapphire. I wasn't so sure myself. I'm glad the emotion came through. In the end, I knew I had to finish with a Chesmond story since they are the OTP of this journal and the two characters who most inspired me to write fanfic.
Yes Dom's performance in the last few episodes of S3 was mindblowing. See what the boy can do when they give him something to sink his teeth into! It made the writers look even more stupid though for wasting and then letting go of such a brilliant actor, one of their best.
Yes, I feel like death to Charlie is death to Desmond also. Desmonds whole journey on the show, the reason he went on the boat race, was because he needed to get his honour back. I don't think Desmond is ever going to feel honourable after what happened with Charlie. He had a man's life in his hands and was forced into being responsible for it. Even though Charlie's death is not Desmonds fault, he will blame himself and other people may blame him too. And of course it was fate that ripped him and Penny apart so I always felt that changing Charlies fate was the key to changing his own.
I'm so glad you liked the Charlie/Penny links! Penny is the main character that I see a lot of myself in (like I think you put a lot of yourself into Claire when you write for her). I think I'm quite Pennyish (my boyfriend is quite Desmondish too!). So Penny having a connection to Charlie has always been important to me.
Thanks so much for your review and all the other reviews you've written for me in the past. It really makes the writing worthwhile to know how much you've appreciated it!
