The weekend started for me on Friday night, when at the suggestion of
charliejuggler I managed to catch
Au Revoir Parapluie at Sadler's Wells. I didn't put two and two together until afterwards and work out that the lead was Charlie Chaplin's grandson (probably because he reminded me so much of juggler Sean Gandini). I really enjoyed the production: a 50:50 mix of dance and circus, with lots of aerial silk/corde lisse mixed in with some good old-fashioned slapstick. The characters were well worked through as were the scene changes (the entire stage space was used, right the way to the back wall). I liked the musical interludes and the costumes and machinery were stunning. Definitely something I'd see again if I got the chance (the run ended on Saturday).
Saturday I went to the UK Stitch 'n' Bitch Day in London. I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be some traders, some workshops, and a lot of knitters (mostly women). It was exceedingly intimidating (I just hoped no-one noticed I don't have a clue about most things yarn) but I did manage to get some nice hand-dyed yarns, and a book on lace, and saw some pretty decent comedy by
Girl and Dean and met a crocheter. Everyone seemed to know each other, which must have been nice for them, and I wasn't in the right frame of mind to do the pushy introductions thing. There was an element of the slightly hysterical that became so offputting at fan events like Collectormania, but if I use these things to get quality product from independant producers whilst meeting a few people each time, it could just work out for me.
Sunday I didn't get out of bed until after 1 (I really needed to catch up on my sleep), and mostly pottered about cooking lunch for the following week and not buying more yarn (I really tried though). Almost managed to go the whole juggling session without hitting myself in the face but succumbed whilst practicing two in one hand and having a club ricochet. On the plus side, the other club did go and hit Guy in the head :-). Got asked whether we could ask to have the floor cleaned, at £1 per person I pointed out where the brush was.
Oh, I also dowloaded
TVShows which is evil and has already overheated the router at least once.
