Chapter 2 “Come in!”
Youngbae carefully stepped into the apartment and looked around. Seunghyun guessed it was to see the difference between what it looked like through cameras and in person. He opted to ignore the latter idea and went about trying to find a fitting outfit. So far he wore a faded pair of loose jeans with nothing but an undershirt on.
“It's not as bad as I expected,” Youngbae mused. “I seriously thought you would be a messy bachelor type, but you seem to be fairly organized.”
“Ah,” Seunghyun replied. “I know what you mean. I used to be like that.”
“What happened?”
“Jiyong happened.”
Youngbae chuckled and nodded his head in understanding. “I think I'm getting to understand it.”
“I thought it might be like that. Alright, let's go. But first, you can't go in that jacket.”
Youngbae looked down at his jacket oddly and turned back to Seunghyun. “What's wrong with my jacket?” he asked. He wore a worn, brown leather jacket and Seunghyun shook his head with a smile.
“Jiyong won't like that it doesn't match you. We'll let you change now rather than later.” Seunghyun disappeared into his room and returned with an expensive looking black blazer. “Wear this. He'll like you in this.”
Youngbae took his jacket off and replaced it with the black one. Looking up, he saw Seunghyun's nod and followed him out of the door. A few minutes walk found them on the level above and Youngbae looked around. It looked normal, from what he could tell. But behind this door was one of the greatest and most feared gang leaders of all of Korea. A ruthless killer who could never be caught for what he did. On the other side of this door was a completely different world that Youngbae could never have imagined if he had never gone into the police force. Bracing himself, he took a deep breath and cleared his head.
Seunghyun knocked on the door before pausing. “I wonder if there's a secret knock,” he mumbled to himself. “I hope not.”
The door opened and Youngbae saw Kwon Jiyong on the other side. This was the man that he couldn't pin anything on because he left his work untraceable. If it weren't for Seunghyun's slip up that got him in jail, they wouldn't have known anything.
“Seunghyun,” Jiyong greeted. His eyes went past the man and saw the cop standing behind him. “You must be the cop.”
Youngbae's eyes widened and he stared at Jiyong. Was he so bold to say that in the hall even though he knew that Youngbae was a cop? A cop with wires, most likely.
Wires. No, the wires were all in the jacket and Seunghyun made him switch jackets. Youngbae looked up at Seunghyun with new respect and silently praised the man.
“I am,” he said as he turned back to Jiyong.
“Alright. Come in.” Jiyong moved out of the way so that both Seunghyun and Youngbae could come in. When they were both in, Jiyong closed the door and held out his hand in an American manner. “I'm Jiyong.”
Youngbae took that hand and shook it with a smile. “Youngbae,” he replied. “I've been waiting to meet you for a while.”
Jiyong smiled and took his hand back. Seunghyun had already left to the kitchen and was fixing himself a drink. From what Youngbae could tell, it was a cold coffee.
“Is he bugged?” Jiyong asked aloud. Youngbae thought back to his jacket and shook his head.
“I had bugs in my jacket. I think Seunghyun knew that when he took it. He used some kind of excuse saying that you wouldn't like it.”
“What kind of jacket was it?” Jiyong asked, curious.
“Brown leather.”
Jiyong made a face and Seunghyun laughed. Youngbae's face scrunched up as he spoke. “So he was right? Was it just pure luck that he took my jacket that had the wires?”
Jiyong shook his head and smiled. “If there's one thing about Seunghyun that you have to understand, it's that he doesn't do luck. Everything is deliberate and planned.”
Youngbae paused and looked at Seunghyun with a slight look of admiration. Shaking it off, he went back to Jiyong. “Why am I here?”
Jiyong walked over to Seunghyun and wrapped his arms around the man. “Because we have a job for you. Are you willing to get dirty?”
“Play dirty cop?” Youngbae asked. Jiyong smiled, resting his chin on Seunghyun's should as Seunghyun drank his iced coffee. “I'm supposed to be here to oversee Seunghyun and make sure nothing illegal happens. Or make sure it does. But I see this is more fun.”
“I see that you're getting to understand us, already.”
“What is it that you're going to do?” Youngbae asked, the curiosity finally getting a hold of him.
“We're going to pull the spotlight off of Jiyong and me. Turn it to a war” Seunghyun broke in with a shrugg and turned to catch Jiyong in an embrace.
“We're going to start a war.”
Youngbae stared and simply kept silent as he watched the two. They started kissing each other, but only stopped when Youngbae cleared his throat. “And you need me?” he asked.
“Everyone needs a dirty cop,” Jiyong replied. “Especially us. For now you don't have to do anything, but when the time comes, you'll pull the Force' s attention off of us and onto the war we've created. It's simple. Can you do that?”
Youngbae silently nodded and smiled. He was going to be a part of something big. Something big and fun.

Dongwook later asked how the meeting between Jiyong went. Youngbae managed a shrug and spout some lies about how angelic Jiyong seemed to be. He also mentioned that Jiyong and Seunghyun liked to kiss. A lot. That was not a lie.
The boss ate up the story and Youngbae congratulated himself for something so trivial. He was already getting better at being... better.

The first week after that meeting, a rivaling gang was massacred. All fifty-something members died. Youngbae didn't know how many there were, but he wrote the report. It was a fairly small gang, but still, to have all of its members killed was big.
All the members but the boss.
Jiyong explained that it was so that the leader would go to another gang and ask for revenge. The leader wouldn't know who killed his group, but he would have motive. Youngbae understood this and drew the police's attention away from the leader and onto another group. Block B, he called them, from the file names first letter.
This other group in question had been committing more murders than imaginable. The police had the idea that they were the ones to commit the massacre.
But Youngbae knew better. He was getting better.

The next week brought the breakdown of one gang member. He was from the gang that was suspected of the murders, Block B. At first glance, Youngbae saw a broken teen. But after a thoughtless slip from Jiyong, he realized that the teen was just an actor. One that he had a complete file on. Or, used to have a complete file on.
Minhyuk, now B-Bomb, was sitting in the Box, what the police department called the interrogation room.
When he went to look for Minhyuk's file on the computer, he was brought to a blank. A clean record. Confused, Youngbae went back to Seunghyun.
“He's an actor,” Seunghyun replied with a shrug. “Works for Jiyong. And he's a beast, from what I've heard.”
Youngbae watched with appreciation as the teen cried in front of the other cops. He confessed about the murders and watched with a bored eye as they left to go arrest them.
But by then it was too late.

The massacred gang's leader (Youngbae was getting really confused now, what with the gangs not having official names) had gone to a third party. This third party(B1A4, Youngbae called them from the file name) had found out about Minhyuk's confession just as the cops did.
When Youngbae asked, Jiyong said that there was another dirty cop in the system. It didn't bother him as much as it should have. Not anymore.
B1A4 had killed the Block B's leader. Bringing havoc.

The third week they found Seunghyun's dead body. It was wrapped around Jiyong's. Burned. The apartment had burned down, and Youngbae knew it was no accident. But there death wasn't important in the face of the massacre.
Of course, he also knew that they were not Seunghyun and Jiyong, but he smudged the writing and positively identified them as such. It was his biggest part so far in the plan. And the hardest.
They had disappeared, but left Youngbae with a phone number. He wasn't sure whose it was, but he kept it with him.
That was the same week Minhyuk left the holding cell with a new life.

The fourth week found that a big corporate business went bankrupt and their rivaling business went through the roof with sales. Youngbae wasn't sure why this was important to notice, but the article in the newspaper found its way to his desk that morning.
He wondered for a moment if Seunghyun or Jiyong had any business skill. They must.

That same week he finally called the number. What he got was a “Why the hell did it take you so long?” instead of a normal “Hello?”
“I was too busy?” he asked in a confused voice.
“Whatever.”
Youngbae recognized the voice a Jiyong's and he smiled. “So, where can I come visit you?”
Jiyong prattled out the address of some upstanding apartment and Youngbae wrote it all down. When he went to visit them, he found that Seunghyun was busy cooking while Jiyong was watching television.
He didn't ask many questions.

“Is this your dream come true?” Jiyong asked. Seunghyun put the rest of the dirty dishes in the sink and walked over to where Jiyong stood looking out the that covered the wall and showed off the city to their eyes.
He wrapped his arms around Jiyong and smiled. “Yeah. Now we need to book a plane to Hawaii. Right?”
Jiyong smiled and nodded his head. “Yeah,” he replied. But his response was choked as he slowly fell to his knees, hands pressed against the window. Seunghyun didn't let go as he fell with Jiyong, holding on tighter than ever.
“I promised you everything,” Seunghyun whispered into Jiyong's hair, eyes tightly shut. “But I couldn't get it all for you.”
“You got me this far,” Jiyong whispered, though his voice sounded pained. “And anyway, as long as I had you, I did have everything.” And it was true, no matter how Jiyong looked at it. He was utterly in love with this man.
“Sap,” Seunghyun whispered even more quietly.
“You rubbed off,” Jiyong replied with a dry chuckle that turned into a half sob. It was getting hard to breathe and talk at the same time. Was it really necessary to breathe to talk?
“I'm sorry.” The confession was full and heart wrenching for Jiyong to hear. Because for once it sounded sincere.
“I love you.”
But before he could hear anything more, his eyes closed and he couldn't be bothered to open them again. “I love you.”
